D’Jais is busy Tonight

A reader braved the weather this evening and sent me this picture.
Tents along the sidewalk on Ocean Ave. Not sure this is safe.

I am pretty sure that you can’t block the sidewalk like that and force other pedestrians to walk in the street.

That’s an above average number of tents for a sidewalk

Frank and Bill have become so bold that they don’t just allow their line to block the sidewalk (illegal and violation of license conditions) but now they put tents over the boroughs sidewalks. If someone trips over a tent pole and gets hurt or the wind blows tents into traffic causing an accident, Belmar will get sued for not enforcing the law and permitting this negligent behavior.

Environmental Councilperson Brennan would love to get your point of view on them handing out black garbage bags to people on line to stay dry. Saw several people leaving the club to their Uber and throwing the bags in the street. Not good for Belmar’s environment.

#7- By the way it’s Environmental EXPERT Councilperson Brennan to you. Seems like enforcing the rules and laws only applies to the peons like you. Just shut up and pay your taxes and let the council people decide where to waste YOUR money. What a farce. Does the ordinance state it’s allowable to give away plastic bags as long as there is not a product in them? Please vote these people out.

Today trash bags blowing all over Ocean Ave and stuck in dune fencing between 18th and 19th. Will make their way into the ocean when the wind goes west and likely entangle an innocent marine mammal. I guess it’s all ok as long as these high caliber tourists have fun and Frankie the Billy make tons of cash $$$$

#1 they did not block the sidwalk, you are still able to walk by…in additon the tents were secured in the ground…

#5 this is a below average statement. the same as any homeowner who has a tent on their front law or chairs that blow into peoples cars as they drive.. this has happened to be on 4th avenue

#7 is there a law agaist handing out something to keep people dry? is this ok at baseball games or football games?

#10 You are incorrect, we could not get passed the dozens of people huddled under the tents, blocking the sidewalk. The cop told me there was nothing he could do and we were forced to walk in the street.

If they didn’t block the sidewalk, then why did the line shift from going down Ocean Ave on Saturday to the line going down on 18th Ave on Sunday. Obviously Djais got in some trouble because I have never seen the line go down 18th like that.

Yes, they changed their game plan, people probably complained about being forced to walk in the street. I was surprised the cop told me that there was nothing he could do about them. Weird.

#10. Not only did they illegally block the sidewalk on Ocean Ave, they also did the same on 18th and 19th – plenty of pictures on social media to show this. #13 it’s a shame that officers don’t know the law or have the chops to enforce it for fear of upsetting Djais. I would expect the Chief is clear on the law and would direct officers to enforce it. This lack of oversight and enforcement is a liability and puts the town at risk.

Stop selective enforcement now. Otherwise hire a public safety director that WILL enforce laws and ordinances uniformly. Frank has made gazillions of dollar on the backs of the Belmar taxpayers for years.

Just look to leftist controlled Cities in the United States of America. What you see is ineffective, unsafe, full of graft and bribery throughout, Government layered onto government onto goverment. Socialism creeps in and it shows its ugly face repeatedly. Layers like an addition of a “Public Safety Director” which we surely don’t want or need. We have been multicultural for eons and we all pull together when needed. Please think about the divisiveness being thrust upon us. We are not stupid we are digging out of the left over 30 million dollar debt we were stuck with 4 years ago. That unnecessary debt has been whittled down to 18 million. Dedication!

The simple solution. The Brass in the Police Dept knows the laws. They need to make sure officers posted at Djais are clear on the laws and directed to proactively enforce them. This should not require citizen complaints. Do the job you are being handsomely paid to do and enforce the laws on the books. Black and white issue here with zero gray area.

So what is the solution when your PD refuses to enforce laws and ordinances passed to protect the poor taxpaying slob? Demote the Chief and hire a Public Safety Director. And vote for people that will be there for the residents.
