Belmar School Board Meeting of June 29, 2021

Listen to the discussion and questions
about CRT (Critical Race Theory) being in the curriculum.
And questions about mask wearing in the future.

Comments

  1. Vote on it Board Members, trust me even though I pretend I don’t know what you’re referring to, then Read after its passed…and a gazillion dollars spent to potentially brain wash your children by teaching separatism, whose better, blue eyed or brown eyed psychological theories?totally inappropriate for your multicultural children and you know it, wishy, washy moderator,Sir. Our children…come what may God sends Sunday

  2. #3. I also appreciate Rebecca for bringing this issue up. Nobody else had a clue what she was talking about.

  3. Editor: Children are our future and you should be lauded for your courage posting BOE meetings. You know we have always been a wide ranging, multicultural people here in Belmar, who abhor Separatism in any shape or form.

  4. Nice work, Ms. Herbert. Thank you for at least raising CRT. It is stunning and disappointing to see the complete lack of concern to speak about this topic — or to even be aware of this topic — especially from the Superintendent himself. The board members must educate themselves about this topic. It is Marxist ideology and teaches that racism against whites is the answer to all of our woes.

  5. Yes let’s raise the alarm bells!!! I hear that the kindergartners are learning that the white imperialist devil is keeping them down!
And all the white teachers are telling all the brown students-between working out algebra problems- that the white power structure is like a chain around their necks. Haha. Have you all lost your minds? I mean seriously folks. CRT has been around for over 40 years. And now all the sudden it is the boogie man that will infect the minds of our poor defenseless children? STOP BELIEVEING EVERY GD THING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET OR THE IDIOTIC DREK THAT POURS FROM THE MOUTHS OF FOX NEWS CELEBRITIES.
Please stop with the righteous indignation that is as fake as it is inconsistent. Spend less time worrying about this bogus nonsense and more time on actual problems. If you really cared about the children at BES, you’d all be addressing the vitriolic racism that the Hispanic pupils and their families face every day from the very same people that complain about the made up threat of CRT. It’s the kind of irony that makes one sick.
    Thank you

  6. If you do not want your children indoctrinated in the CRT propaganda, send your kids to Saint Rose School. The country will be transformed into a big government controlled place with loss of freedom and free speech if the general folk do not recognize BS offered on the main stream media, controlled by far leftist liberals who do not believe in the constitution and bill of rights, drafted by white men who were obviously racist. Jeesh, gimme a break, wake up, people. Stay ignorant and see the country change into the old USSR, which failed, by the way.

  7. It has been declared that math is racist, and probably ivory soap is as well. Whitening your teeth, better not do it! Deep end lunacy prevails. Don’t buy into the agenda to destroy the U.S.A. Call a social worker if your house is broken into and you are being held at gunpoint. Then everything will be all good.

  8. 11/12- the lunacy you describe resides solely in your head. You have been down the rabbit hole of scare mongering morons who are happy to divide this country. They create a fake narrative that your lifestyle is under attack by an imagined boogie man. In the 1600s the Roman Catholic Church arrested Galileo for pointing out that the earth revolves around the sun. My point? Cancel culture has been around since the dawn of modern man. Your just upset because for the first time in a thousand years, you’re the one being cancelled. Sour grapes. Oh and the St Rose idea is a great one….unless your child is: Jewish, Muslim, has any kind of mental or physical disability, or is poor. Ya see, those kids are all welcome at public school. It’s the law. But your fantasy land sounds delightful. Boring, but delightful.

  9. #14 classic redirect. The tool of those who have no stance to argue. Putin himself does it all the time. I was pretty certain you wouldn’t dispute any points. Keep being manipulated by cowards who care only for ratings and clicks. Your misplaced fear and anger will eventually run your life if you’re not careful. Hopefully you’ll see that one day.

  10. Self righteous lefties are rarely worth going toe to toe with, as the only true opinions are theirs and anyone else who states other opinions must be belittled and their voices squelched. The anti-fascists are the new fascists. No fear or anger here, just disgust.

  11. Now who’s being self righteous? So you don’t think your own opinion counts? So that stuff you posted in comments 11 and 12 are what exactly? Were you having an ‘episode’? Go back and read the things you yourself wrote. If that doesn’t count as “the only true opinions are theirs and anyone else who states other opinions must be belittled and their voices squelched” well I don’t know what does. Plus, those opinions are filled with fear and anger. Perhaps you should pay more attention to the things you say. You’ve made a decision to hate, and while that’s your decision to make, please don’t drag the rest of us down with you.

  12. Merely pointing out the absurdity of CRT thinking and the “everything is racist” mentality being expressed by advocates of BLM (the social-political movement) and far left progressives who aim to remake America into their ideal country. I cannot even wear a red baseball hat for fear of having some kind of abuse hurled at me. Self righteous is as self righteous does. Go on and pick on me if you have nothing more productive to do.

  13. #19- if you feel you are being ‘picked on’ there is nothing I can do about that. It’s a tad snow flakey, but I defer to your sensitivity. What is absurd is being afraid that CRT is being forced down the throats of the children at BES. Anyone who is legitimately afraid of that, is being led astray by a much more sinister group than the ‘far left progressives’: the far right extremists.
And if you are afraid to wear a red baseball hat because of some possible abuse you might encounter (you won’t), imagine being exposed to abuse because of your skin color or sexuality. Those are things you don’t get to chose. And those are things that until the very very recent past, could get you killed or thrown in jail.
If you let that sink in, maybe you won’t be so angry all the time. Life is pretty good for you and me.

  14. Use of the words “you” and “your” implies that responses are personal and directed at me, (uh, maybe picking on me); also assuming that I am angry is presumptuous, as I stated that I am not angry. Implying that my responses are “snowflakey” is kind of personal and insulting, not true? I have experienced discriminatory sexism because of my sex and perceived gender, when I worked in management, so no lecture needed about prejudice. If one has kids in school and if one is caucasian, and those kids come home and say that the parent is an oppressor and the kid feels guilty for being not-of-color, CRT may hit home. Sorry, but more education and enlightenment about what the present teaching about CRT is may benefit anyone so naive. OK, I am implying that naiveness is the issue, my bad, but maybe just plain nastiness is what I am perceiving.

  15. #21 I am merely pointing out the irony of your philosophy. You (yes, you) clearly have zero experience with the Belmar public school. Your fear (yes, fear) that somehow your interpretation of CRT (which is false and based on misinformation and fear) will be taught at that school is beyond laughable. I have children that attend that school. They have attended that school for years. They have never once come home feeling “guilty for being not-of-color”. (As I write this sentence it strikes me how unbelievably far gone you are).
That school creates an environment where the children are exposed to different races, languages, cultures, and physical conditions. THAT is what is great about it. This whole discussion started because you (yes, you) claimed that all children should attend a catholic school. Not exactly a very diverse idea. And the thought that something like that is even possible shows a pretty impressive lack of understanding the world around you. If that isn’t naïve, I don’t know what is.

  16. If the CRT curriculum will be taught at BES, I hope your kids do not turn against you or judge you when they are indoctrinated in those principles. Good luck. Regarding Saint Rose School, kids do not have to be Catholic to attend. Pay for a private school or reap what the taxes have paid for in a public school. That’s it. Believe what you will.

  17. #23 I’ll believe what is true. I’ll leave the ‘believing what you want to believe’ to you. Seems like your style.
No you don’t technically have to be Catholic to go to St Rose but they will be taught through the lens and principles of Catholicism. So not really an option for Jewish kids or even Protestants for that matter. And let’s not forget the poor or kids with disabilities. They’re out too. The children at BES aren’t ‘indoctrinated’, they are educated. Something perhaps you should look in to. And if my kids (or anyone’s kids) could be so easily ‘turned against’ us as parents? Well that says WAY more about us than it does about them. I have smart, kind, hard working, considerate, open minded kids. If that’s what you mean by reaping what the public school produced? Then I’m all in.
You really need to pull yourself out of your rabbit hole of alt right disinformation before you become too far gone. The world can be a lovely place if you let go of your anger, your hate, and your fear. Believe me, Tucker Carlson makes more money if he can keep you believing that your way of life is under attack. Guess what? It isn’t. Wake up.
