  1. So, Jerry B argued that the weed ban ordinance was not regular business and should be discussed by the public outside of the consent agenda. But I never heard his opinion on it or what he wanted to discuss? Jerry, where do you stand on the ban?

  2. #2 There wasn’t any mention about the total cost. Such as renovating the bldg. , moving equipment etc. This is a drastic step taking private for a consolidation of services. The town will spend a lot of money trying to do this but fail. Without a financial spread sheet it’s an above average dumb idea.

  3. So average joe you agree with the borough that the borough should have (as they did) asked the BFAS for their business plans and operations costs! That was prudent due diligence. Once asked why didn’t they comply? Why send a letter that they were closing and dissolving.
And what should the town have done at that point?

  4. Because the building already exists.
Why why why didn’t The First Aid go directly to the town? Could have saved us all this bickering and done a good thing for the town

  5. #4 You assume too much. If the costs I mentioned are taken into consideration where are the numbers?
#5 Never said they should not show their numbers before town gave them money. The town hasn’t any idea what the total cost will be to buy, renovate and move.

  6. Do u really think that the building will remain unchanged after Belmar owns it???
No because then the pitch will be to update update and expand it and there goes Belmar spending and spending when the building functions just fine now for OUR SAFETY please remember.

  7. Why why why didn’t the BFAS offer the town to purchase that property. Seemed the charitable thing to do for the safety of the public they served for long and so well

  8. #9 Don’t really care if the building needs improvement or changes down the line. That’s true of any building. And if the building functions well now, why not keep it in the public domain and use it for public good?
    # 8. They decided to close shop. What should the town have done?

  9. # 6. The cost of building another building can in no way cost under 1.5 million in today’s market. Not to mention the legal fees and the emotional cost as everyone fights about that.

  10. #12 What should the town have done? They should have let the other guy buy it and put homes up.

  11. # 15. One mans opinion. You’ve a right to it. But that doesn’t mean you are right. Others believe it’s a smart diligent move. Doesn’t mean they are right either. Which brings us to the place that the Mayor and council finds themselves. They have to make a decision based upon their judgement of the facts before them.

  12. # 12. You didn’t answer the first part of the question. Why didn’t the BFAS just sell to the town. It’s a charitable organization. They would ( and will, even if eminent domain is used) make 1.5 million. Why all this anguish. And please don’t say they are saving the neighborhood. The building has co existed with its neighbors for years.

  13. #15 How the hell can people say it’s a smart intelligent move without knowing the actual cost. That is just an above average dumb move. The facts aren’t all there.

  14. # 18. The borough has already taken control of the first aid squad because the BFAS sent a notice they were closing. Belmar went out to bid to try to contract First Aid service. Only 1 bidder. At very high cost. So they pulled first aid into police and public safety. Would you prefer we have no first aid? The building stands there already. Belmar bought the rigs etc. You would have them ignore the opportunity to purchase the building that has been housing the rigs and equipment?
