The voters have spoken. Let the corruption continue. Let’s count how many times there is a conflict of interest with Kinney on the council. My guess is at least a half dozen times in the first 18 months. I’m looking forward to watching her supporters try to explain that little problem away. The political spin will be like a magician struggling to make his trick look real. I guess there is a bright side to all this. It will be funny to watch

Thank goodness the voters of Belmar were smart enough not to vote in the real fraud and flip flopper this election season Mr. Jerry, who will say or do anything to get voted in. First an Independent, then a dem, I’m wondering if he tries to convince the R’s to let him run under their ticket next election. Jerry is all about Jerry glad the voters saw through him.

#1…Definition of Corruption usually means “dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery” Seriously, there is no “bribery” going on in our town, the current GOP dominated Council are just being politicians. Do they show some favoritism, yes, but if Dem’s were in control they would do the same. And please enlighten me on what the conflict of interest is.

#2 Dodge….Obviously you do not know Jerry, and you don’t even have the guts to at least use your first name for such a sad commentary. Hopefully Kinney will be a good addition, but Jerry is needed on the Council for his candidness and desire to have transparency in our town’s decisions. I don’t care if Jerry runs next year as a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, he is needed on the Council. Remember Jim Bean when he was on the Belmar Council?…Jim was outstanding even though he was stymied…Jerry is our new Jim Bean…it’s not the Party, it’s the person.

#3- I disagree, I have met Jerry and done my due diligence on him prior to my vote. I think that Jerry speaks in half truths and is not transparent in his statements about his background. I am entitled to my opinion on the issue. Jodi has a lot of positive traits and experience that she can utilize in her newly elected position, if she is given a fair chance by the hater groups I am sure she will demonstrate same. I am glad that Jodi will keep a woman’s voice on the council, also she is a business owner (in our lovely town) I think people take for granted the struggles of small businesses face and I think with her knowledge of that she can help our small struggling main street. No offense to Jerry he worked for the State Judiciary he does not understand those struggles, he always had a paycheck and now a pension to rely upon. I’m just glad the right person was voted in and I am excited to see what Jodi brings to our community during her term.

#4 oh please. I would bet that you haven’t met either Jerry or Kinney. Your assessment of each of them is so far off the mark. Jerry is the most decent, soft spoken, honest, and intelligent man I’ve met in a long time. Mrs Kinney is doing this because Mark asked her to. She had zero understanding of how the council works and hasn’t been to any more than three meetings. She’s a hand picked yes man for Walsifer. Period. You are entitled to you opinion of course but your opinion is detached from reality.

#3 First, your definition says ‘typically’ involving bribery. While a free boat slip and stacking POT and overtime isn’t exactly bribery, it is theft. And it sits squarely in the corruption camp. I agree with you that the dems would (and did) commit similar acts. That’s exactly why you want a dissenting voice on the council. Kinney will do nothing and, mark my words, will never publicly go against Walsifer. Corruption isn’t excusable simply because ‘the other guys do it too’.
I won’t define ‘conflict of interest’ because I’m certain you know what it means. In this context, any time that Kapalco (spelled wrong prob but don’t care) comes before the council for any reason, and a property owner and developer of his size has plenty of reasons to come before the council, Kinney will have to recuse herself (she won’t, she’s already shown a lack of interest in rules). She is his tenant and in a position to benefit from him. If she doesn’t recuse herself, it is the dictionary definition of conflict of interest. Hope that helps.

#7 I hope it doesn’t come up. And since the council is stacked with yes men, it probably won’t. Walsifer wouldn’t need her vote as there won’t be any dissenters so no need for a tie breaker (Brennan has proven a very loyal servant). Maybe the next election cycle people will finally see the need to have an independent voice on the council.

#9 that would be great but that’s not how it works. Wally gets to choose a replacement if ol Tom B steps down. And Wally is not a big fan of folks w differing opinions. He’ll find another empty suit that will just smile and agree. It’s the Matt Doherty/ Donald Trump approach to governing. The larger the ego, the more fragile it becomes.

#12 thank you- I stand corrected.
I guess that’s one of the issues that would come up if the town elects to drop the party designation from the candidates. Something way overdue. If Buccafusco and Kinney ran on ability and didn’t have the little letters next to their name, Jerry would won in a landslide. Too many people blindly vote for party not person. It’s a bummer.
