I didn’t know i was donating to charities other than the Belmar First Aid Squad all these years, did you? Is that what will happen to the Belmar Fire Dept too? Sounds like a deblasio move…
6/8 is correct – a non -profit that asks for taxpayer money should open their books and show the taxpayers why they need more money Period. It also wasn’t the first time that the BFAS refused to show their books – not a good signal to send when you want taxpayer money. The current state of affairs seems very personal but it is rooted in a valid point about where exactly taxpayer money goes.
Years ago there was also a big to-do when the fire department was asked to open their books.
