  1. Ms. Kinney is also a small business owner and she will be able to utilize her knowledge to help bring back our struggling Main Street. Gerry has only collected a salary and pension from the taxpayers so he will not be able to offer experience in that aspect. Knowing the struggles especially in the recent year and half Ms. Kinney will be able to relate and utilize her everyday experiences to help the whole community.

  2. #7. Is Jerry for children’s programs? My understanding was he was not for any spending ( to include children’s programs) until we balance the budget. Commendable but not for children in my understanding of the platform.

  3. Case in point. Today in coast star Jerry doesn’t mention rec programs at all. Other candidate does. Pick another reason to vote for Jerry but not for Rec. programs.

  4. Everyone read the Tap Into article where the candidates answer a few questions. The answers are nearly identical. Neither candidate has any previous public service under their belts. In the end, to me anyway, Jerry comes across as the better choice. More of a shake up candidate to keep the current admin honest. And less about bending over backwards for tourists. Yes, we need tourism for our biz district but as a full time resident, I’m a little tired of every decision benefitting the bennies over the residents. Enough already.
We’re the ones paying the taxes and beach rev stays at the beach.

Brennan probably won’t run again next election so Mrs Kinney can give it another go.

  5. 32. You should stay away from the cable news. CNN, CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post. They are all woke outlets. If you’re too brainwashed to see the illegal immigrant crisis at the border, the debacle in Afghanistan, etc, etc, etc, then maybe you should just open up your eyes at the grocery store and gas station. Inflation is rampant, shelves are empty, the economy sucks and is only going to get worse. Wake up!!

  6. #33 I’m writing an article for Hypocrisy Today. I just need clarification on something: so when a democrat says the country is heading in the wrong direction during a republican administration, it means he ‘hates America’. But when a republican says the same thing during a democrat administration, it means he’s being patriotic? I just want to be clear. My readers expect blatant hypocrisy, and I want to thank you for delivering such.
You wake up, chicken little. Go ahead and blame the post pandemic GLOBAL supply chain and labor shortage on the guy that’s been in charge for 10 months. The removal of troops from Afghanistan was a s*%# show for sure, but you could say that about our last 20 years in that country. The exit plan was designed by the previous administration, who was very clear about getting all troops out of there. The unemployment rate in this country is at 4.8%. On Jan 20th, 2021 it was at 6.3%. In case you have a hard time with stats, the lower number is better.
America vacillates between red presidents and blue presidents. And each time the other side thinks the country is being ruined. And each time, the needle barely moves. Take a break from your doomsday rhetoric and lend a hand. Otherwise get out of the way. Maybe this will help: the only President in modern history to leave office with a balanced budget was (gulp) Bill Clinton. George W Bush left office with an economy in free fall. Barack Obama left office with an economy that was booming on all fronts (as stated by economists on both sides of the isle) His admin created more jobs in his last three years in office than Trump did in his fist three years in office (pre Covid). These are just numbers. Maybe they don’t mean anything. Well, they do mean ONE thing…stop worrying so much, let go of your hate and anger, and appreciate the positive things in your life. Thank you

  7. #34- Apparently you have an electric car (by the way gas will be more that $4/gallon in a month) and don’t do the food shopping for your family (prices have skyrocketed). Oh, riiiiight, it’s all Trumps fault. I personally live on a fixed income. I can not ask for a raise. And for those of you that are getting mega raises. good luck trying to keep up with the inflation that is upon us. I guarantee you will be poorer by the time we vote Jackass Joe out of office. I am already poorer day by day.

  8. #35. I’m sorry you are struggling. I take it you didn’t read my comment. That’s ok, it’s long. I’ll sum up for you- first I never said ‘it’s all Trump’s fault’. I didn’t lay one thing at his feet. All I did was point out some factual numbers. As you know, numbers don’t have an agenda. You know, or should know, that the US economy is like a over sized tanker ship. When the captain turns the wheel, it’s like a year before the ship starts to turn. As economists point out, we are often in a recession for six months before we know it. This current situation- inflation, gas prices (they were higher under Bush when adjusted for inflation but I digress), etc. are symptoms of larger problems. Blaming all this on the Biden admin is a little disingenuous. But like I said, this country goes through ups and downs. Sometimes during a Republican prez, sometimes during a Democrat prez. I actually agree with you that Biden is not the best guy for the job. But he’s president today ONLY because the last guy was worse. Plain and simple. Hopefully the next person returns us to a time when we elect vibrant intellectuals, not washed up reality TV stars and dottering old fools.

  9. Do you think there may have been some correlation between Covid lockdowns and the unemployment rate in 2020/2021? In case you have a hard time with stats, the lower number is better…

    U.S. unemployment rate for 2020 was 8.31%, a 4.64% increase from 2019.
    U.S. unemployment rate for 2019 was 3.67%, a 0.23% decline from 2018.
    U.S. unemployment rate for 2018 was 3.90%, a 0.46% decline from 2017.
    U.S. unemployment rate for 2017 was 4.36%, a 0.51% decline from 2016.

  10. #37 I absolutely think that COVID impacted unemployment numbers. I don’t recall saying that it didn’t. I just checked, I didn’t.
I was responding to a commenter that basically said that this country is in ruins. It’s not. And since you like stats:
Unemployment rate in 2009 peaked at 10%
    Unemployment rate in 2017 4.1%
    That’s a 6% decrease.
That was during eight years of a Democrat in the White House. The rate of decline in unemployment under Obama did not increase under Trump. In some sectors it stayed the same in others it actually slowed. You kinda proved my point.
    Thank you.

  11. Before Sandy, Belmar polling locations were at firehouses and the DPW building … Gov. Christie’s “State of Emergency” Order let Belmar consolidate all voting at the Municipal Building…

It seems to me that we are still living in a “State of Emergency”

  12. My guess is there was confusion. First, the event was supposed to be outside and it was brought inside due to the weather.

People there are serious things happening in the world. This is not one of them.

    Choose your battles.

    Don’t be petty.

    Love life. Breath.

    …and vote!

  13. Simmer down: The event was suppossed to be outside? Where? Also on municipal grounds, also run by the municipality. The whole point of government is to keep us safe, and keep us fair. The whole reason you’re on this blog is to check those two issues. Maybe you should follow a self help blog? That’s a good place to remind yourself to love life and breathe (or breath as you say).
