Council Meeting of February 2, 2021

Comments

  1. I think Jerry and Cheri need to be on that council. We need people who speak up and ask questions. Let’s throw Jim Bean in there for good measure. Imagine how different these council meetings would be!

  2. Does it make a difference that the RFP for EMS was sent out the week before the resolution was passed? So much for transparency.

  3. Raise the price of a beach badge by a buck and pay for the EMS out of that. I’m sure 85% of their calls for service are from out of towners. This admin needs to get more money out of those “vacationing” here in the summer. I am tired of subsidizing out of towners. Throw a 50 cent tax on a bottle of beer. Figure it out, it’s what you were voted into office for, to protect and serve the residents, not the out of towners and builders looking to make a quick buck, then leave us paying for everything.

  4. Obviously the proposed RFP was prepared for Attorney review, in a timely manner, before the Council meeting at least 6 days before hand.

  5. #7. please understand that builders have increased the Belmar tax base tremendously, (actually greater than any other tax source in our town), and should be thanked and not discouraged.

  6. #9 the final RFP was sent to the potential vendors the week before the resolution. The boro attorney may have reviewed an earlier version.
Doesn’t really look or feel like transparency is part of the plan. Looks like more back door, underhanded buddy buddy style politics.

  7. The Belmar First Aid is a private entity. If they are unable to sustain themselves financially they need to dissolve like any other business. If they refuse to show their books so the boro can justify their expenses to supppement them, then it’s time to move on to other options. I feel the lack of transparency by the BFS regarding their books speaks volumes. They have served the town well over the years but taxpayers shouldn’t be in the business if bailing out private companies.

  8. Moving forward, for each first aid call to our friendly Lake Como and Belmar adult beverage watering holes, the owners should be charged $750. It’s only fair since they put so much stress on the system with their drunks but are making money hand over fist for their own benefit at the same time.

  9. Didn’t the Pringle Administration request to examine the First Aid Squad books during his first Administration? Didn’t Pringle stop the Fireman’s Fund events because they wouldn’t share their Accounts Payable Etc and that creepy Seafood Festival plagued us for 20 years?

  10. Agreed – it’s time to end the chainlink fenced in seafood festival
It’s in a parking lot – not very nautical
