  1. Ken Pringle made two big mistakes. 1st, when he allowed the MTV riot to come to Belmar, 2nd, when he stepped aside and allowed Matt to become mayor. Both pretty bad mistakes.

  2. Sure hope he brings in a BA who is experienced and not an entitled **** ******* ***** like the last two

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  3. #2 he doesn’t have a crew. That’s why he won. We’ve had ‘crews’ running things since Matt took office. And in case the new mayor elect thinks he can bring in a bunch of cronies and yes men, he will find himself out of a job come next election cycle.

  4. I was not a big fan of ken pringle as he tried to stop a lot of what made belmar fun but the riots were not his fault. The first two days were fine. The third day was hip hop group chris cross. Someone threw stuff on the stage and they walked off maybe 2 or 3 songs in. Now you have an aggravated crowd. A week or so after rodney king. Mix in idiots on both sides and you get the riot. I was living one block off the beach. Saw the whole thing first hand.

Getting rid of Pro Volleyball on the beach was a mistake as well. I always enjoyed watching the games and the stores that used to be along the beach did pretty well.

  5. #6 Agreed. Start running this town like a business, not a members only country club. I believe the residents will be pleasantly surprised by the dedication and hard work you will find you will get from ALL three newcomers. They will place the residents atop the developers and others who make tons of money but pay very little toward the services and infrastructures. Thank you voters of Belmar.

  6. Oh yeah, I forgot, KP wanted to put a Marina public Urinal in Doughboy Park. Thank God Danny Moynihan rallied the veterans and went to a meeting and had the idea was shot down.

  7. #5 … there is no municipal requirement for a ‘Business Administrator’ … Mayor Pringle successfully governed for years without a BA

  8. Pringle’s legacy:

    ****** ***** *********
    Implement the midnight bar closing
    MTV riots
    Make the racist “Guido” comment

I could go on and on. Pringle single handedly made this town the most controversial, divisive town anywhere between its residents.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  9. The Belmar voters chose the right people to move Belmar forward. They have no hidden agenda. A little housecleaning is in order!!

  10. #12-I agree, especially the employees that got massive raises during the past 4 years. Let’s hope the new mayor and council question those salaries

  11. #10 you are right as usual. Matt installed the BA position and it has been a nightmare ever since.

#11 um, what? maybe you should look up the word ‘legacy’. Are the bars closing at midnight? Do you have your watch set to central standard time? The MTV riots were not his fault. But he did do something no mayor has done since: he owned it. He held a meeting with the towns people and actually listened to what they said and took responsibility. Imagine that. In addition, his admin cracked down on the animal houses and made this town more family friendly, and therefore, more valuable.
Guido is a name. You really offended by that word? I know that we live in a time of snowflakes, but that’s pretty ridiculous.

  12. There were several folks who held the ba position over the years. Matt didn’t invent it. Charlie Ormsbee, Jackie Ascione, Frank Alesi and Robin Kirk just to name a few!

  13. There was a place on 10th Avenue between b and c that was similar to the belmar onn in terms of being disruptive to the neighborhood. Cops and ems always there. Pringle authorised the purchase of the property. It was torn down subdivided and sold as 2 lots. Problem solved!!!

  14. #18 if you say so. Just don’t ever want to hear any complaining about the PC or ‘woke’ culture if the word ‘Guido’ is so offensive that its one time offhanded use becomes part of someone’s legacy.

  15. So our new Mayor Jerry was hanging out with Matt at the White fund raiser at the Wonderbar. Hear they were very cozy for about an hour. So much for Jerry not having anything to do with him. Just watch and see

  16. Wonder who paid for the banner plane supporting Jerry the Saturday before election. Don’t they have to claim it as a contribution? Hummm

  17. Actually I would like to know who paid for the banner plane ad for Jerry B. Since the Democrats claimed on their FB page they didn’t know who put the plane ad up, but were happy whoever did, I can only assume “dark money” was used. And unless I missed it, it isn’t listed on post election contributions filings. This kind of contribution is very suspect in my opinion and goes against open contribution reporting. It should give pause to all residents of Belmar who believe in fair and open elections.
Another thing that I would ask the public to consider is the vandalism against our headquarters. Does anyone have any info about that?
These two incidents are very disconcerting and dangerous. One in that outside undisclosed money toward any campaign should be intolerable to all of the voting public. Second, that violence (and I see that vandalism as an act of violence) toward political candidates causes a true loss to our society. Instilling fear is the motive to stop good people from wanting to get involved.
So I hope someone someday will expose the people behind these two unconscionable acts.

  18. Actually, I like the idea of the vandalism, but I think the “other” political party’s office should have been vandalized as well to show equality. It’s this dead political system that brings such *****, ************* *** ** *** ***. DON’T VOTE!!!

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  19. Katrina are you willing to admit that the BA was part of the reason your campaign lost?
This will probably not get posted, the BA talks with the admin of this page.

    (No he does not, Editor.)

  20. just my observation … typically, municipal BA’s are lightning rods for the elected officials … often falling on their own swords to protect them.

  21. Katrina
It wasn’t an airplane that cost you the election. Mark knew about the people around him and those he chose to employ. He was told many times but ignored the fact that they were problematic. I bet the new BA won’t be pushing people around.

  22. #25 ha. Yes Guido and woke have different meanings. I never said they had the same meaning. If you need me to explain my response to you, I wouldn’t be more than happy. Mostly because it is pretty scary that you couldn’t understand it.

  23. #27 I get that the loss was upsetting. But trying to lump those two things together is insincere. First- if there is a single person in this town that voted because of a banner plane ad, a couple days before the election, I would be really surprised. Also, if the money wasn’t donated to the campaign then they don’t have to report it. And if someone took it upon themselves to pay for the banner, then it’s up to the air advertising company to follow the election law rules.
As far as the vandalism goes- trying to connect it to the banner ad is an attempt to accuse the democratic candidates of having something to do with it. This is a criminal matter. The police will (hopefully) handle the investigation. There is just as much likelihood that a Republican did it as a Democrat. The news is filled with stories on both sides of the isle of this type of false flag event to create sympathy for one side while stirring anger towards another. Hopefully the police will determine who perpetrated the childish act.
I think you are a great person and I voted for you. Mostly because of your tireless effort during the Matt years. However, I did not vote for Walsifer or McCracken. Mark betrayed the trust of every citizen that fought to rid the town of Matt, Brian, Jen, and Coleen. That’s why he lost. It was not because of an airplane banner. And it was not because a person spray painted some nonsense.

  24. Good morning. I never said that the banner plane cost me the election. I’m not naive. And I never lumped these two things together as a reason either. You #34 did.
My point about the banner plane is simply that the money that was paid for it is contrary to what a lot of people in Belmar fought so strongly against. My opponents did deny having known about it and I take them at their word. I would hope they would want everyone to know also. For transparency. If that banner had said vote Walsifer, with no knowledge of who paid for it, everyone would have been up in arms. And rightfully so. My wanting to know who paid for it is quite simple. I believe it is a detriment to the whole process to have undisclosed monetary influence in our elections. Isn’t that what the referendum we all fought about to keep our pay to play laws was all about?
    The vandalism issue:
Some may think that was a childish prank. I do not fall in that category. I believe the intent was to instill fear. That I also see as detriment to an open and fair election process. I’m not saying it had any bearing on the outcome of the election. And I don’t care if it was a Republican or Democrat. The punishment and admonishment should be the same. I believe quite strongly that these kinds of acts are meant to intimidate and discourage good people from getting involved.
So I-ask again. Does anyone know who paid for the banner plane or have any info on who did the vandalism?

  25. Does anyone know who paid for the banner plane or have any info on who did the vandalism?
    —————————————-
My agents are in the field 24 hrs. a day tracking this fiend. We had a lead in Kabul but it turned blind alley.

  26. #36. The second paragraph of your first post attempts to link the two incidents. It may have been done subconsciously, but it is pretty clear that you are implying that the act of violence (the vandalism) and the banner ad, we’re the work of dark money and an act of intimidation. That means you believe, without evidence, that the other side (democrats) had something to do with it. I agree with your stance on both issues. Dark money in elections is objectively bad. Period. Vandalism and destruction of public or private property is objectively bad. Period. You refer to the vandalism as an act of intimidation. That is a pretty clear indication of which side you believe is responsible. Without any evidence however, I’m not certain it wasn’t an act of obfuscation. In other words, someone in support of the GOP ticket who vandalized property. Again, we have no idea who committed the crime so I put my faith in law enforcement to apprehend the culprit(s). I hope that Mr Walsifer is pressuring them on a daily basis to solve the crime. I assume he is.
As for the banner, I highly doubt that if the banner said ‘vote for Walsifer’ we’d even be having this discussion. But nevertheless, I am, like you, against any campaign violations. I was very unhappy when then candidate Jodi Kinney set up a campaign booth inside the municipal building during a Halloween event. A very Matt Doherty thing to do. That was a clear violation of campaign laws and Mr Walsifer just kinda laughed it off. So yes, it is very frustrating when it’s not taken seriously. My recommendation, if you really want to know who paid for it, is to contact the company that runs the banner ads and ask them. If they refuse to tell you, threaten them with a call to the elections board. That would probably get you your answer. As for the vandalism, let’s hope that Mr Walsifer is in that police station every day asking for updates on the investigation.

  27. #36 #36, most of these anonymous (words deleted by Editor.). The coincident that the damage was superficial and everything was cleaned up the next day makes you wonder. The administration had a banner ready the next day. I drove by to see the banner but it was already replaced. Of all the trouble Walsifer and company brought to this town with the first aid debacle, willingly accepting the unnecessary lockdowns, the Belmar Inn, raising taxes, closing the skate park, Kirschenbaum being a bully to everyone, it’s my belief that Walsifer’s ego was too big to ever see most of these items except maybe the blatant, over the top redevelopment. Would it be a coincidence if the supposedly reason for the vandalism on his property was the same issue Mayor Walsifer believed his re-election was weak on?

  28. #38-Once again “you took the words right out of my mouth”. Thank you Meatloaf, RIP. Quite honestly the most upsetting offensive banner I saw this year was the “Squash the bug” notice regarding the invasive Chinese lanternfly. How we here in New Jersey sit back and watch the powers that be waste money over and over again on non-sense. I had already been told by the State of New Jersey that squashing the bug was of little to no use in combating this pest. Thank you Gov. Murphy. How bout spending that money on supplying free school lunches to ALL kids regardless of need. I need too but am stuck in a so called middle income bracket and seem to fall thru the cracks in getting ANYTHING out of this state while watching people sit home collecting money eating Twinkies. And for the record I had nothing to do with a banner plane (can’t afford it) and the painting of a window (again can’t afford the price of a can of paint which has also skyrocketed in price). Thanks Joe.

  29. Katrina
It’s interesting how you speak of intimidation and good folks not getting involved. You must mean the lady who organized a beach cleanup only to have (deleted by Editor). Maybe you mean the guy who reported a water leak on a new main installation (deleted by Editor). Here’s a good one. Eddie had a first aid guy arrested for putting fuel in an ambulance. Just a few tidbits from the administration you were ready to sign on with. Spray paint and an airplane banner?

  30. Revisionist. I stated twice and now a third time I do not believe that Jerry, Maria or Mark in any way shape or form committed either of those acts. I don’t believe they encouraged the behavior either. The point is exactly that. I don’t know because the people responsible are in the shadows. If as you say you’re not convinced, with out evidence, that some gop person did it, I’d like to know that too. Perhaps even more.
Just as you stay in the shadow without saying who you are. Why is that? Are you intimidated? By who? Why? It’s very hard to have a conversation with an anonymous poster. Oh, and if you would have any knowledge of a banner plane company that I can call and ask I’d appreciate it. I have no idea how to find out that info.
That’s why I did my first post. To ask for help from the community.

  31. At least with the Jodi thing you knew who was in violation and an ethics complaint was filed and DIDMISSED so you may think it was an unlawful violation but the board of elections did not. But again, at least you knew who was committing the infraction. SO a complaint could be filed.
And if the banner plane said Walsifer I would have asked the same dang question if I knew that our campaign didn’t pay for it.
And if we had it would have been reported as an in kind contribution.

  32. We shouldn’t condemn all Vandals as bad people. I’ve known some very good men who were/are Vandals. There are many of them who’re lovely, sweet people. Not all of them should be condemned for the actions of of one or two bad apples. We should all try to be compassionate and help those misguided Vandals. Maybe, we should start a GOFUNDME for them.

  33. I think I remember giving to a GOFUNDME page for a banner plane. There were already 1304 donors. Imagine that. Was that legal? Crypto Sam was one of the donors. And Musk endorsed it. Next.

  34. Your team lost and you seem to be oblivious as to why. It had nothing to do with the vandals or the airplane. Bending over backwards for developers. The demise of the first aid, the bullying of good people by the ba. The incredible lack of transparency in the purchase of the 12th and main property. That’s why.

  35. don’t waste time analyzing the past … look to the future … without relatives working for the Borough (passed Nov 29)

No. 2022-196 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADOPTION OF A NEPOTISM POLICY AS
RECOMMENDED BY MEL JIF TO BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND INCLUDED IN THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK/PERSONNEL POLICY AND
PROCEDURES MANUAL ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION 2021-96 ON APRIL 6, 2021

  36. #42 I am not sure I understand, are you complaining that the current administration is not doing enough to find the vandals?

  37. #42, 43- I remain anonymous because A) I can, and B) because I don’t want to be involved by name. I know that is the cowardly way out but that’s the way it is. I hope you know that I have the utmost admiration for you and I did vote for you. Your first post had a tone about it that indicated, to me anyway, that you were accusing ‘the other side’. If I’m wrong, I apologize. As for the Mrs Kinney thing, I do not see a difference between that and the airplane banner. Just because we happen to know that she, as I read it, flagrantly violated local election laws doesn’t make it better than not knowing who did it. And what was really upsetting about the Kinney incident was Mr Walsifer’s reaction to it. He blew it off. It was such a Matt Doherty response.
As for looking into the banner add. Luckily there are not many companies that do it. And there is probably only one airport where a Belmar banner plane would leave from. There’s a company called High Exposure Aerial Advertising at 800-226-4448
I’d start with them, if it wasn’t them they might know who else you could call. This is all from a Google search that took about 25 seconds. We agree on the importance of election law adherence AND we agree on the dangers of voter intimidation. We just disagree on who should be running this town. And trust me, if the new mayor goes down that same path, I’ll vote against him in four years. Local political party affiliation means nothing to me.

  38. Revision. Just one more post on this issue. My stance in anonymous posting hasn’t changed from when Dave was the administrator for Common Sense for Belmar. It is a very unfair situation to allow unknown people to make claims about others, criticize decisions and call people names. Dave and I had conversations about this too. Now don’t get me wrong, Sandy has the right to run this blog however she wants and I know I have the right not read it. But how does one answer to the air? How does that help open fair discussion? How does anyone defend their reputation against an unknown assailant. Unknown People on this blog say some of the cruelest things about others. And make terrible accusations. Once out there it is impossible for the person being ********* to defend themselves. Especially when one has no idea the posters underground motivations. I don’t care what party affiliation is being attacked. People are not political parties. People live in the world with others. Have families who care about them and vice versa.
Oh and thanks for the phone number.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  39. #47 would the adoption of that nepotism policy somehow kill the BFA deal on Main Street? I know I’m grasping, but one can dream.

  40. Katrina
Where have been? Good people who have said anything against this administration have paid the price. They have been ******* and ******** for challenging The Walsifer gang. That’s why people remain anonymous.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  41. #50 you’re welcome for the number. And I agree with you for the most part. However, anyone being ‘attacked’ on this blog can, and usually does, defend themselves. It definitely carries more weight when one uses their real name on this blog, and the new admin does a great job editing unfounded accusations. There is an argument to be made that a degree of anonymity allows people to be more honest than they would be if they had to attach their name. But, like you point out, there is a downside as well.
Anyway, I hope the police find out who vandalized the signs. And I hope you find out who paid for the banner ad. Like I said, I admire you very much and voted for you.
