  1. Interesting meeting. The usual babble about doing the same things known not to work about the geese, Complaints about noise, traffic and parking, etc. The highlight of the meeting was JM going on a two-part, sometimes disconnected rant about several topics while sometimes crying. What made it two-part was the mayor and councilor interrupting him and forcing him to sit down in disregard of Roberts Rules of Order. The mayor has got to get ahold of himself in the regard.

  2. Why is it OUR police chief leaves OUR. meeting to go over to the Lake Como meeting and sit next to Huisman when OUR citizens have questions and concerns about a rash of burglaries in OUR town? Shameful Mr. Mayor

    1. Great point would love to hear an actual answer or mayor b hold himself accountable for anything

    2. OUR police chief is also the chief for Lake Como. She does NOT schedule the council meetings and clearly CANNOT be at two places at one time. Chief Scott does an amazing job and clearly cannot please all the residents. And for the resident who stated there were no police officers on the beach….perhaps you should think about the fact that due to the past few years of attacks on Law Enforcement Officers there is a shortage of MEN & WOMEN who no longer want to pursue that career. Did you ever think to call the police to report what you complained about at the meeting at the time it was HAPPENING????? Make the call and the police will respond!! Just like the CHIEF they can’t be everywhere!!!

      1. True she cannot be in two places at once. Therefore she should delegate someone to be at Lake Como and be at our meeting especially at the end during the public comment/question portion

        1. She’s the chief of Lake Como too.
If she stayed, you all would’ve had a problem with that.
          Some people cannot be pleased.

          1. Belmar switched our meeting night to second and fourth Tuesdays in January. This means that we are now on alternate Tuesdays with Lake Como. Last month happened on the same night because of the July 4th Holiday.

  3. Why would anyone want to run for office in this town when you have to deal with this cavalcade of bullshit?! It doesn’t matter which party is in power. It’s all the same.

    1. Who, Matt? Yea, no thanks.
He loved it alright. Just cost the town way too much.

Who, Mark? Yea, no thanks. He aligned himself with the wrong people.

Who, Brian? Yea, no thanks. His fragile, yet gigantic ego made it hard to find room to move.

Maybe Jerry will be tossed into the dust bin of Belmar’s history. Maybe not. Time will tell.

      1. I insulted Matt, genius. No mayor has cost this town more money and headaches than Matt. Read first, then type.
My point, in response to earlier comment, they all technically “love being mayor”. Unfortunately that’s not enough.

        1. When the circle of money is revealed I wonder if mayor B will leave his summer house in Belmar. Stay tuned. It’s going to get exciting I promise.

        2. You got that right. We are still paying for Matt’s mistakes, and will be for years to come.

People forget his management of Silver Lake flooded the town during Sandy. It’s like he had an agenda!

  4. If you OPRA the police reports you will notice there is rarely a police stop on 16th Ave or 10th Ave for speeding. The two main entrances to town. Nobody goes 25 mph down 10TH or 16th and Rt 35 and never any tickets issued. If a cop sat there for 1 hour a day issuing tickets for summer months, we could generate enough revenue for some of these special projects everyone desires. The police are all over the parking citations but speeding down our streets can cause much more damage than a parking violation will cause. A few council meetings ago it was said the town would start having a cop on a boat policing the channel for violators of the no wake zone causing damage to bulkheads. Let’s first police our streets before we start stationing cops on the boats.

    1. Totally correct. Once Belmar gets a rep for giving out speeding tickets, the speeding will decrease. Fact.

    2. Whoever said the police would be on a boat is an idiot….the waterways are not handled by municipal police departments. I believe most parking tickets issued are by the special class one officers who have no authority to issue moving violations. And I guarantee that if a cop sat for an hour residents would complain at council meetings that they saw the cop sitting in car not doing anything! Maybe they need to hire more police officers….oh wait then the residents would complain about the increase in their taxes….clearly a no win situation in this town. And if you see that OPRA request you will clearly see the cops aren’t sitting around doing nothing.

      1. The ‘idiot’ you’re referring to was referring to the State Police. They actually do police waterways AND they are often referred to as police. Because they are.
And no one would complain about cops ‘sitting around’ because they would be busy writing speeding tickets. That’s the whole point. There is an actual yes win situation available to us.
Perhaps you’re right about OPRA request showing that they are not doing nothing.
What it would show, and what my eyeballs show, is that they are sitting around in front of DJais.
Home break ins and speeding around town with impunity is easy when the bulk of the police force spends its weekends baby sitting obnoxious bennies who can’t hold their alcohol.

Anyone know how much DJais pays to have half our force working their sidewalk? God I hope it’s a lot. I know, from public records, that they pay less in property taxes than some residential single family homes. I have no idea on what planet that makes sense. No one requires more municipal services (or is the cause for more municipal services) than DJais. Their taxes should be commensurate.
And no, a couple of slices of pizza and free well drinks for a few ours in September is not what I would consider commensurate.

          1. That comment was a third party recollection of a past meeting.
Were you there? Did you hear someone say “a Belmar Borough employed police officer will monitor the waterways”. I’ll answer that. No, you weren’t. And no, you didn’t.
My point- stop throwing the word ‘idiot’ around so much. Especially when residing in a glass house.
Oh, and the ALL CAPS thing, maybe ease up on the caffeine.

  5. Hey Chief Scott, black Ford van still sitting in front of marina office. Going on 3 years now. Can we get it out??

  6. Fisherman, I suggest you call the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, a division of the NJ Attorney Generals Office at 1-844-OPIA-TIP if you feel laws or violations are being overlooked. I’m surprised it doesn’t have four flat tires by now.

  7. They should call it the circle of Belmar money. Wake up people. Doherty is bleeding this town dry. Scratch my back I’ll scratch yours. Thank God for Belmar blog. You won’t find the truth on TapInto Belmar Money.
