    1. Eugene makes me laugh!
“4th Ave and Inlet Terrace is a busy intersection!!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  1. The Mayor wants a new shiny office / borough hall instead of a first aid building? More, I won’t tell you what we have in mind because we know better. The mayor runs the town, not the people. Don’t you dare question the council! At least they admit the cleanup is simple. Not impressed with town lawyers. Turn your phone off **** *******.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  2. Excuse me. I’m not concerned with Mike Campbell. I’m concerned with the fecal matter from the geese polluting Silver Lake and all the surrounding property.
Back in February Mike Campbell sent an email to the borough offering services to use his dog as a way to handle the issue. It’s a not a situation that needs to go out to bid. Mikes dog is well trained. If he can do the job at a fair price that’s what’s important. it’s about what’s best for Belmar.

    1. So, Mike’s dog will chase the geese away? Probably to Spring Lake, Avon, Bradley Beach or Ocean Grove. Then those towns may call Mike’s dog to chase the geese away. Maybe landing in Belmar. It’s a dumb idea. All towns need a cooperative agreement on how to deal with this problem. Towns have agreements concerning police etc. Why not have a cooperative agreement with surrounding towns?

      1. The geese are a health hazard and should be treated as such. Chasing them from one lake to another lake is dumb. Remove them. Belmar has been oiling eggs and chasing the geese for decades. Obviously not working

        1. We can ramp things up and have a music festival at the lake. A couple concrete pianos will solve this problem.

  3. All that may be fine but we need something done now. Brian McGovern used to patrol with his dog. It worked fine. It is not A dumb idea. It is decisive action that works. And I believe Mike already does Lake Como and Spring Lake has euthanized some geese. I’d rather see Geese police than euthanasia.

    1. Decisive action does work. However, in this case it’s the incorrection action that is being taken. Get rid of the geese permanently. Too many of them ruining the lake and creating a biological nightmare.

    2. The Magovern dog was a great idea but unfortunately only a very temporary solution to the problem. MC’s dog would be no better.

  4. Would be good, but we can’t even get our 7 towns to agree on using same hours for riding bicycles on the boardwalk!

  5. Geese poop is known to have a high phosphorus % which causes cyanobacteria. Town officials should not be surprised by the algae boom and high levels of cyanobacteria in Silver Lake. This should have been handled back in January. Time for plan B and elimination of the geese. Chasing them to other towns is not the responsible thing to do.

  6. Dredge to nowhere. There is nothing in the works. We don’t have anywhere near the money needed. It’s great you worked for a dredge company. Doherty also had some connections too. Wink wink.

  7. I don’t believe the purchasing laws call for an RFP if it doesn’t meet a certain amounts and listening to the back and forth that quote falls below the threshold. Just like any other service the borough may retain during the year.

    1. Anything over $1,500.00 a RFP is needed. Keyboard wizards hard at work. Everyone has the answers but minke has a name.

      1. I believe your wrong, According to New Jersey Public Contract Law

        Requests for Bids (RFB’s)
“Formal” bids, or RFB’s, currently total $17,500 or more, due to “Pay-to-Play” laws, and are, by statute, publicly advertised in an official newspaper of the contracting unit in the Classified “Notice to Bidders” section. Responses must be mailed or delivered to the County at the time and place advertised, in sealed envelopes, and will be read in public at the advertised place and time.

The Borough may have a multiple quote policy depending on requirements made by auditors or QPA. But It did not seem that the service needed an RFP they could have obtained quotes for services. Seems like a lot of work for a simple service. An RFP is not done for electrical service work, or extermination services as an example why for this service?

Before you claim keyboard wizard you should probably do some research yourself.

  8. Ok all. So we all agree something needs to be done. Oil the eggs, dog patrol and if that doesn’t work euthanasia. Is that what you all want?

  9. Stop with the politicians bouncing the neglect on getting rid of the Canada Geese. Do your jobs and protect Belmar and our visitors who now believe we are …… Fill in the blanks

  10. just stop mowing Slver Lake parkland and let native ground cover vegetation take over … including WEEDS

  11. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-3 and Local Finance Notice 2011-15, the bid threshold, for entities without a Qualified Purchasing Agent, under the Local Public Contracts Law was set at $17,500 and is not subject to the Governor’s adjustment. Additionally pursuant to N.J.S.A.Jan 24, 2023

  13. Isn’t Mike still part of a lawsuit (Deleted by Editor.), and given a pretty sweet deal to retire early? Or is that settled? And wasn’t he was also (Deleted by Editor.) And now we want to reward him with a boro contract just because he has a dog that can scare geese away? Why don’t we hire Huisman back too while we’re at it!

(I do not know if any lawsuit is over or what the outcome was. And there is not enough clear information for that other subject.
