  1. There was a guy beefing about his water bill.
The geese thing came up and I presented a plan to the council to exterminate the geese (the town of Edgewater did is successfully up in N.NJ.). But the council is dead set on doing again what they know doesn’t work.
The mayor isn’t up to snuff (usual Belmar mayor).

    1. Thanks for voicing your concerns, Tom. Your opinion is always welcome.

Unfortunately, it does seem some council members are triggered easily. You can see the body language and hear the tone of voice. Trouble ahead for sure. Seems more like an activist than a council member.

      1. This blog is filled with commenters who are clutching their pearls at literally anything the council says or does. And the council are the ones who are easily triggered? Project much?

        1. I agree. There’s no need four a council member to get snippy. You are supposed to stay calm and listen, or not. No need for the back and forth.

  2. What about the fake dogs you see in peoples yards? Or the strings that are supposed to keep them from landing? Or Mr Creamer’s take away their food supply idea?
Or make them pay property taxes, they’ll be outta here in no time.

    1. Slam them with a $1000 sewer bill and then laugh and ridicule any complaints they have. Normal behavior for this mayor and council.

      1. It’s normal behavior for this mayor it seems as it’s a trend at meetings, but not for the council members at all. Anyone of those council members would have handled that situation if not empathetically, much differently. For someone who was humble and neighborly when he ran for mayor, we’re seeing an elected official who can’t seem to learn how to talk “to” people but he can certainly talk “at” them and “around” them or coldly speak in “legalese” whenever confronted with a problem that doesn’t need to approached from that angle. We’ve even seen him ask folks to simply sit down when they broach a subject or provide compelling facts that he doesn’t want to hear about.
This administration has done so much and taken on so many pressing issues in a short time that has been positive, but has also disappointed in a few major areas; The main one being it’s head man has continued an adversarial tone and condescension towards the folks he works for as past administrations also did. Mr. Walsifer always was a class act up there, even when he was lying through his teeth. I kinda miss that approach, but I certainly don’t miss Mr. Kirschenbaum or Slim McSlackin’ and I definitely don’t miss Howdy Dowerdy. 😉

        1. Mr. McEvoy- I have to say as much as sometimes I may not agree with what you say I respect your opinion and I do listen and take in what you say and do my own research and due diligence. When you were so supportive of this Mayor during election time, you said you would hold him accountable and I wasn’t sure that would be the case but I am impressed that you are so honest and upfront about the issues with the current Mayor. I know sometimes you get a lot of comments from people that aren’t always positive but I wanted to thank you for being true to your word and holding Mayor B accountable. Not many people do that on a public forum so I wanted you to know that you are appreciated.

          1. Thank you. Somebody attached to the mayor said to me recently, “Everyone needs friends” and suggested I should tone it down. I told them I’d rather have no friends and still have my liberty. Along with other concerned Belmartians, so very many right-leaning veterans in town rallied to get rid of the last administration and my responsibility is to them firstly; Not to the mayor. That’s not courageous or honest, it’s just how things are. The new administration has done a lot of positives as a group, and good things with the municipal budget as well, but the Taylor Pavilion giveaway to Doherty after preaching against cronyism, for fiscal responsibility, saying they owed Doherty nothing, and touting transparency, will be a tough stunt to forgive the mayor for. Incidentally, it’s common public knowledge that Matt Doherty was looking into purchasing McCann’s in Lake Como as well as renting at least one restaurant space in Belmar for “The Circle of Friends Cafe'” so the $1 a month agreement is even more preposterous than many Belmar Democrats care to admit. That being said, Caitlin Donovan, Mark Levis, Maria Rondinaro, and Dr. Kinney are four of the most tireless, concerned, and most importantly positively effective council members we’ve had together. I just wish Dr. Kinney would explain to the new right wingers in town such as Mr. Lonegran that the bull$#!* coming over his back fence is worse than the goose $#!* coming onto his front lawn and why Mike Campbell’s “proposal” would never be considered even for a moment. 😉 Consequently, since Republican Candidate DiSomma decided to meet with and entertain Matt Doherty in town recently in public for over an hour and a half lunch to discuss “local politics”, I’ll be voting for Donovan for council. PLUS she reminds me of the best qualities of a young Vickie Renner who has also done great things for Belmar and who continues to be one of its most concerned and active citizens. The word among most of the swing voters I correspond with is that as long as “McSlackin'” and “Falsifier” are in the lead and pushing the rhetoric with the local Belmar Republicans, while at the same time not actively reaching out to folks like Mrs. Renner or Jim Bean, they’ll remain direct non-factors in Belmar’s future. Just the change of heart from John Sabia to DiSomma tells me they don’t know their @$$#$ from holes in the ground, but that’s just me. What do I know though?… I only field confidential correspondence from both sides of the aisle including business owners, politicians, cops/firefighters, community volunteers, and other airtight sources weekly who realize this utterly combative two-party system on the local level is a farce. get the alpha male dinosaurs out of the way in town and get more women in positions of leadership and you’ll see better and faster progress in my opinion.

          2. Mr McAvoy
I cannot believe I’m saying this but I agree with everything you said in that post. I don’t always agree with you, so this is a great example of always looking out for common ground. The ridiculous partisan nature of our little town’s campaigns is laughable. There are people commenting on this blog who have literally stated that they will never vote for a democrat, or never vote for a republican. As if those labels have any actual relevance in this tiny hamlet. There are only two labels worth noticing…effective or ineffective.
So, thanks for the post. You are dead on.

    1. Thank you, I was going to say the same thing. If this gentleman has in fact been here for 21 or 22 years, however long he’s been here to notice that the lake was never this bad, he should know better.

    2. McEvoy. I don’t usually give much credibility to this you say but if Disomma, who I don’t know, spent a minute with Doherty then Caitlin Donovan has my vote. I also agree that giving away Taylor Pavilion to Doherty under the guise of Circle of Friends was a disgrace to the taxpayers. But don’t forget Jerry also hired his campaign manager, John Walsh to be his “assistant “. Talk about cronyism??!!

      1. Well obviously when Walsifer’s campaign manager John Sabia who was wonderful and professional at promoting the campaign through multimedia became the Belmar Multimedia Director after Walsifer was elected, only folks like yourself had a problem with that; Or maybe you didn’t because you’re not possibly a hypocrite, right? 😉 I certainly didn’t until he started “having technical difficulties” during council meetings with his audio and video feeds when townspeople were getting very accusatory of the malfeasance of that administration. It was one of the reasons he was THE PICK of The Belmar Republicans headed up by my man Jimmy McCracken and got beat in the primary election by someone they should have picked but realized they could never have control over. It’s all about control with these people. They have all kinds of money and homes already; They want more in the form of control over the town. Their little kingdom. They forgot one important thing. It’s government by the people, not by the autocracy or the local gentry.

John Walsh got hired because he successfully managed a “SWEEP”! He now manages tourism; Which eliminated Mary Brabazon’s high paid position. He manages special events; Which eliminated part of Frank Cinelli’s higher paid position and John Walsh has other responsibilities. Since organizing The Belmar Seafood Festival after the last administration threw out the planning “blueprints” and vendor list for it like they did for The Farmer’s Market and others (they cared so much about Belmar first, lol), and organizing The San Gennaro Festival which were both great, many residents who aren’t against Free Speech expressed in the form of Tik-Tok Videos, agree we’ve gotten a much better product for much less of our hard earned money.
I don’t need the personal knock on my credibility from you or anyone else because the folks I get the facts from- not “perceived truths” but FACTS- are much closer to the administration and the day-to-day workings of the town than you can ever imagine. It’s one of the reasons that you, as well as the mayor, shouldn’t condescend to people. The concerned and knowledgeable and courageous residents have reined in a lot of the bull$#!& in the past few years. If the partisans and the cowardly anonymous like yourself would simply lead, follow, or get out of the way, they could probably take care of the rest in due time and much less of it. It’s a process for sure, but so is stepping back and seeing both sides of an issue through the lens of fairness; Work on that first.

        1. I dispute your statements McEvoy. John Sabia was never Walsifer’s campaign manager. Mary Brabazon resigned/retired well before the past election. As far as Cinelli, John Walsh doesn’t do half as much as him or Sabia for that matter. (Deleted by Editor.)

        2. This blog has become so one sided and biased just like all media in this country. They only tell you what they want you to hear. I have retorted many of McEvoy’s long winded dissertations with FACTS and they never get published. I have known McEvoy for a long time and it amazes me that people are reeled in by his keyboard BS. **** ***** *****! Hang out with him for awhile and you will see for yourself. Dave from Common Sense always published both sides of the story. Ms. Caputo does not. She protects McEvoy. I’m sure this won’t be published either but I’m sure she will see it.

          (Asterisks are mine.)

          1. “Beachy”; I don’t need or would ever want a job in a government I despise; I’ve expressed this countless times here; Welcome to The Blog however.
“Real Belmartian”; Your anonymous banter just makes you more of a non-factor in the pursuance of the facts. The “true Belmartians” who aren’t of the radical right as you, and who provide the community at large through me with the inner workings of our recent administrations, remain anonymous because they are inside operators trying to make a positive difference in this age when our government has perpetrated an adversarial relationship against its proprietors- the people/voters. They are not folks like yourself attempting character assassination to further their political agendas. Keep it up though; It only makes their actions more distinct from the misguided partisans. In the future consider putting your name on your statements and maybe it’ll all get published and none redacted sometime in the future if you find the courage. You can dispute all the facts you’d like; You’ll simply remain an anonymous, non-factor who is quite possibly a major reason for last year’s “SWEEP”!! That’s your own character issue. Look inward; Not to me for your political failings.

          2. “Real Belmartian”; Oh you poor thing! The Blog isn’t fair anymore because for the first time in years someone came along to take your alpha male ego and your platform of intimidation and perceived partisan truths and turn it on its head?!? Call Bill and Hillary Doherty; Maybe they can tell you what the next step is according to the “Rules For Radicals” playbook. WAAAAH!!!! I hear your crying! Phone a friend; You’re a failure AND you’re boring me. Just sayin’ 😉

          3. Real Belmartian (always suspect the accuracy of a self applied nickname) this blog isn’t one sided. You are just upset at the things being said. If you can do a better job, no one is stopping you.
It is always the media’s fault when things are happening that you don’t agree with. It must be nice to live in a world like that. To never have to take responsibility for the actions of your favorite team.

  3. This Mayor has to go, he has done nothing for the Borough and offers no solutions. The things that are getting done and the people that have knowledge are the council people the Mayor does nothing, knows nothing and is just rude.

    1. He’s an improvement from the last one though! At least he isn’t actively ruining the town. I’ll take do-nothing in Belmar after the last few mayors we’ve had. I like Belmar how it is!

      1. Oh you’re so right Oh Aged Anonymous Bloviator of The Blog; I wear my heart on my sleeve for this town, not on my bank account like many involved in the countless lawsuits of the past two administrations. Besides that, my cries for help to the true patriots in town- the veterans- were answered when the fake patriots were swept out a year ago. I cried that night too from pure cathartic triumph.

        1. McEvoy I am a veteran or a patriot as you say. The veterans I know in town don’t even know who you are. We don’t advertise it like you do. We don’t need to. Being the mouthpiece like you are (Deleted by Editor.)

          1. You should! Because the leadership we have been getting from the majority of our government at every level has been seriously lacking compared to the leadership and the high standards our military still abides by for the most part. The veterans I deal with are mostly Marines and former Special Operations personnel. I’m guessing the ones you deal with aren’t.
I advertise it because firstly I’m intensely proud to be associated with those men and women. Secondly, I got sick of hearing folks like Walsifer and Kirschenbaum say they are “real patriots” and “former men in uniform” and I warned them if they don’t respect the veterans that are fallen or the ones that continue to advocate for their sacrifice they’d be history. I rub it in their faces every damn chance I get just like I’m doing here because they ignored us, laughed at us, and condescended us when we asked for the basics at the local memorials for our fallen. The veterans in town who know who I am got on board with this even though we are all right leaning voters and look what happened; SWEEP!
            SF/MF

          2. P.S.- Nobody knows who you are “Old Secret Soldier of The Blog” because you were brave enough to try to attack me anonymously!!! Get lost!!!

  4. Congratulations to the jr guard on their accomplishments. But what about Belmar lifeguard Amy White? She competed in the USLA nationals in Virginia Beach:
1st place single open rowing champion
1st place dual female open rowing champion
1st place co-ed open rowing champion
And on and on. Amy is by far the best female rower in the nation and she works in Belmar! Let’s acknowledge her as well.

  5. How can they hire a former employer who was the subject of an Employment lawsuit which may or may not have been adjudicated? Someone who knows, please answer if you’re brave

    1. The word you’re looking for is Cronyism. Once in the club, you can do just about anything and still have a cushy tax payer funded job. The only way to fight it is to vote the people who support the cronyism out of office.
But it’s like whack a mole. Because the new folks coming in engage in it too.

  6. Worst mayor and council I’ve seen yet, but we mustn’t be discouraged, there’s always one step further down we can go.

    1. Correct. You said that about the previous one, and the one before that. You’ll definitely think the next one is the worst you’ve ever seen. And then the one after the next one will be the worst you’ve ever seen. Wait, I’m detecting a pattern.

      1. Hey birdog/The worst
“You’ll definitely think the next one is the worst you’ve ever seen. And then the one after the next one will be the worst you’ve ever seen.”
        ——————————–
Maybe the first sentence is true but probably I will’ve cashed in by your second sentence. (Deleted by Editor.)
