There are two ceremonies in Belmar,
The first marker on Ocean Ave is at the North Blvd beach entrance at 9:35 am is in honor of
Carlos M. Gonzalez
Hometown: Passaic, New Jersey.
Age: 22 years old
Died: March 16, 2006 in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The second marker on Ocean Ave is at the flagpole between 5th & 6th Ave at 9:48 am is in honor of
Campbell McKenna
Hometown: Shark River Hills, Neptune, NJ.
Age: 21 years old.
Died: August 27, 2003.

BELMAR’S “LIGHTS UP THE SHORE”
September 11, 2022 – 8:46PM
Belmar Mayor Mark Walsifer and the Belmar BoroughCouncil in conjunction with Commissioner Director Tom Arnone and the Monmouth County Board of Commissioners will host
“Light Up the Shore” in honor of the lives lost and the fearless display of heroism by rescue teams and citizens who responded to the tragedy on September 11, 2001.
Everyone is invited to participate at the 10th Avenue Public Safety Pavilion on the Belmar Boardwalk on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 8:30PM.
Use your cell phone, flashlight etc. to light up the skyline at 8:46PM to honor and remember these heroes.
