As far as the guy talking about the marijuana goes, that ship has sailed. The fact is there’s nothing that can be done about it now. It’s over. In the future, the government will supply people with dope.
The government doesn’t supply ‘dope’. It taxes dope. Like it taxes liquor. Marijuana legalization was an inevitability. Booze has caused more societal problems than weed ever will.
Pot is just as addictive and causes just as many problems of physical and mental issues as alcohol. To think one is better than the other is both naive and untrue. Ask anyone in recovery. Also until there is a way to test on the spot for impairment, driving, operating machinery or operating on people for that matter is very dangerous while under the influence of weed.
Gee … I’d rather a pot shop instead of the Mediterranean proposal … 3+ acres with parking … direct access from Rt 35 & railroad station … never saw any school children there … the Seniors would have a short walk to buy their weed and Belmar would get 2% of the sales.
(My thought was to put a mini nuclear reactor on that property, Editor.)

Alcohol costs society more in terms of actual costs (accidents, violent crime, treatment, court costs, support for domestic abuse victims, etc) and emotional costs. I didn’t say weed isn’t bad, it is. It’s just not nearly as bad as alcohol, and excessive alcohol consumption is literally celebrated.
#5 What does that even mean? Does the government supply alcohol? Cocaine? ‘Shrooms? Of course not. The government will happily TAX weed. That isn’t the same as supplying it. Time to rely on a new source for your ‘news’
#6 What is wrong with a dispensary? This little town has a dozen bars and a couple of liquor stores. The bars cause nothing but problems for law enforcement and the citizenry. Violence, vandalism, hazardous drivers, break-ins, and overall quality of life issues. A dispensary is a store. A store that has all kinds of state regulations to follow. Plus, they are all closed by 9pm. Thinking that one dispensary will be our downfall is myopic, hypocritical, and misguided. My 78 yo mother buys her marijuana at a dispensary. You all are biased against weed because society has programmed you to be.

Belmar has been chasing the geese for decades. There’s one sure fire way to get rid of them. Ask Spring lake how they did it.
There’s more weed in belmar than any dispensary could bring in. Smoke em if you got em.
