Mr D never disappoints. First, I propose a drinking game where we all have to do a shot every time he trots out the Mark Twain quote. We’d all be hammered by noon.
I could spend a great deal of time talking about how Mark Twain’s and Mr Dilberger’s views on the role of education in society, racial equality, and social justice could not be more diametrically opposed. I could attempt to point out to Mr D the relatively tiny portion of the federal budget that goes to fund welfare and SNAP programs. I could try to explain the difference between a social safety net and just regular old homeowners’ insurance (he seems to confuse the two). I could attempt to point out that the largest portion of the federal budget, besides the military, is Medicare and social security; programs that he himself enjoys. But what’s the point. Mr D sees the world through the lens of his own experiences. No other points of view matter. It’s as if we should all buy into the opinion of a particular white male of a certain age. The thought of vastly more complexity in viewpoints and experiences bothers him. It makes him uncomfortable. But, luckily, it is not everyone in that demographic that feels that way. My octogenarian father, who served in the military, and worked his entire life, sees the world vastly different than Mr D. He is enthusiastic at the strength and courage of his grandchildren. He is optimistic of their generation’s more compassionate views on social and environmental issues. He is not bitter and he is not angry. And he encourages participation in our democratic process. That’s the advice I choose to follow. To light a candle rather than curse the darkness. My advice is vote. Regardless of your political affiliation or social stance. Just vote.
Is he suggesting that some American citizens lose their right to vote because they have different opinions than him?
Dude, move to North Korea, or Russia, or Yemen, or any of the other authoritarian countries that completely agree with you.
Wowzers.
The bright side is that you not voting is a very very good thing.
You’re probably one of the leaches sucking the public assistance out of the system and not putting in a dime back into it. That’s what’s wrong with our society today, it’s “What can you do for me”
Tom knows the value of serving his country and working a hard, productive life.
Yea, that’s me. ‘One of the leaches sucking the public assistance out of the system and not giving anything back’. And for the record Mr Holier Than Thou, it’s leech not leach. It is literally impossible to suck and leach at the same time.
Here’s a fun fact for you: one of the largest employers in the country, Walmart, also employs the largest amount of people on Medicaid. What? It’s true. The employees make so little, and are kept as ‘part time’, that they qualify for Medicaid. Walmart helps them fill out the paperwork. So, we (you and me) pay for the health insurance of Walmart’s workers. Now you can go ahead and be mad at those ‘leaches’, but I am more upset with Walmart. Call me crazy but I’m not really into paying their worker’s benefits.
That’s just one example of literally hundreds of examples where people like you and Mr D spend all your time being angry at the wrong thing. Plus you ignored the fact that the public assistance portion of the federal budget is tiny. You may recall the last president to overhaul welfare in any significant way was Mr Bill Clinton. I know I know, ‘he is a horrible person because he cheated on his wife!!!’. Boy has the Republican Party changed. Now cheating on your wife is a prerequisite.
Sir, I assure you my hatred of the traitor, Bill Clinton (check out his personal behavior during the Vietnam war having to do with his draft status) has nothing to do with his “cheating” on his wife. Even the last true American president, Jack Kennedy did that (I thank the Lord for giving us Jack Kennedy). While I’m on this subject of presidents, GOD DAMN LBJ
We’ve been over this. A) Clinton’s Viet Nam war era activity pales in comparison to Trumps. Clinton protested the war. I thought you were against wars. Was I wrong about that? I know that you don’t care about his adultering, but the GOP was going absolutely bonkers over it at the time. They tried to impeach him for it. Haha. Trump, who has made cheating on his various wives a second career, is worshiped as a false idol by those same people. The world has lost its mind.
And B) you and JFK are at opposite ends of the political spectrum. I have no idea how on earth you square your stated beliefs with his stated beliefs. Seriously. Is it because he was killed? I mean his acceptance speech for the nomination reads like a laundry list of items that you are 100% against. I don’t understand, and I’m not sure I do want to understand. One thing you are is consistent. Your love of JFK throws that out the window.
And if there were no Medicaid then Walmart would have to pay their employees more money. Social Security and Medicare were a mistake. It made people lazy. Lazy to save money so they could retire on their nest egg. And if you were smart and responsible enough you could retire at the age of your liking instead of having the government decide when you could stop working and collect the poverty level payment they entitle you to. A huge ponzi scheme. The government needs poor people and it is Social Security that it uses to have them. Democrats need poor people to funnel money to, all the while skimming off the top.
If there was no Medicaid Walmart would certainly not have to pay their employees more. Why on earth would they do that? They don’t do it now. Are you suggesting that the only reason Walmart doesn’t pay its employees a living wage is because Medicaid exists??? That may be the craziest defense of a giant corporation I have ever heard in my life. I can see it now…the ‘Medicaid made me do it’ defense. Haha.
If there was no Medicaid, then poor people would have two choices: get medical care and don’t pay for it (meaning we do) or die from treatable illnesses. Not very Christian.
Social security is not for ‘the poor’ or ‘the lazy’ (lazy? Really?) it’s for the elderly. And it is not only poor elderly who get it. Everyone gets it. It was created, and continues to be, for everything from extra retirement income to a safety net keeping elderly Americans from starving to death. We all pay into it. It’s a hugely popular and important benefit.
I don’t know why you would start and argument without having even the most basic knowledge of how SS works.
Not everyone can choose their retirement age. Some people work their entire lives at low wage jobs and require assistance to live. Would you like to eliminate low wage jobs? Not everyone has rich parents you know.
Truth but you don’t like it.
Scenario: a man is born wealthy. Silver spoon, the whole nine yards.
Grows up never wanting, doesn’t really work nor does he really contribute because the family’s lawyers have built tax loopholes inside loopholes. The man grows up and, with his family’s wealth, builds a real estate empire. But, since he never learned the value of a dollar, he overextends and files for bankruptcy. The government steps in and he gets protected from creditors. The creditors are relatively small businesses made up of hard working people. They all get stiffed. Fast forward, the man is back on his feet and flush again. He has not changed, however, and does the same thing over again. Over extends, files for bankruptcy, stiffs his creditors, ruins small businesses. This happens at least one more time after that. All told costing hundreds of millions of dollars.
Now I ask you, is that a leech? Technically using the system to get what he needs. Contributing nothing really (technically employed people but they were let go or stiffed), didn’t pay his taxes, used the government money to protect himself.
To me, that is the worst kind of leech. One man worth 1000 ‘welfare queens’.
Just food for thought. Because he ain’t the only one. He’s the most famous leech of his kind, but he’s far from the only leech of his kind.
Is he suggesting that some American citizens lose their right to vote
—————————————————————————–
Sir, it’s the concept of democracy that can’t work here anymore. Once so many people started making a way of life (voting themselves money) of “assistance,” that was the end of democracy. There’s no going back to voting because they’ll only continue doing that. There must be another form of selecting leaders to get the best individuals to lead. We can no longer have these incompetents lead at all levels. Unfortunately, I see no other way of implementing a new system of leadership other than through revolution. Even that is preferable to
to this mess we live in daily. Even Thomas Jefferson said we should have a revolution every 20 years or so – it clears the air.
Sir, not a bad idea but too late. The society has been dumbed down to the point that the mass of people are too stupid to make correct, well thought out choices (not withstanding their idiotic college diplomas). The idea of democracy only works when you have the mass of people smart enough to know good candidates from bad ones. Those times are over.
Not a bad idea? I was joking. It’s interesting to me that you have this elitist opinion of yourself. That you, and only you, are smart and everyone else is dumb. There’s a name in psychology for that.
Have you ever considered the possibility that you may be the one lacking in basic intelligence? I’ve always been wary of those who brag about their own intelligence. The smartest people I know do not talk about how smart they are. It is only those who lack self esteem that constantly brag about how smart they are.
I am the Best – “Have you ever considered the possibility that you may be the one lacking in basic intelligence?”
———————————————————————–
Of course everybody questions their intellect. I had no idea my words would be taken as you have. I’m of only normal intellect. What does set me somewhat apart is a body of experience few people today have. Also, for me to not have lost too much of that intellect at my age. I’m also quite physically active at my age.
———————————————————
As far as people’s intellect goes these days, they are quite stupid. But when I use the word stupid, I don’t mean it in the normal sense. The stupidity of the people today is created by the new manner of living they’ve adopted (not everyone but the vast majority of Americans). They seldom move around like Americans of bygone periods. They live extremely slothful lives. Lastly, about the people being stupid, yes they are to a large extent, but the stupidity you see is not hereditary. It’s manufactured by a constant propagandized official brainwashing done by a combination of TV, IPhones, texting and isolation from other people. I hope I’ve been able to clear some of this up for you.
OK
———————————————–
Sir, there should be no more voting. Overall, the vast majority of people in our nation have regressed intellectually in the past 30-40 years or so by adopting the new manner of living. So, the concept of democracy is no longer viable. As we see every day, our government is regressing at the same speed as the populace. We need a new form of government and there is only one way to replace it – revolution. Too bad, because I wanted to live my last years in a peaceful environment. But alas, that’s not going happen.
I’m not sure that threatening violence (revolution) is an intelligent response to unhappiness.
Out of curiosity, what is happening now that has you so disenchanted? What rights have you lost that you had 30 years ago? Before the new manner of living. Is it seatbelts? Yes, that is a law now, but it was enacted because tax payers have to pay for the long term care of people who go through windshields. What else? What has you so upset? There is nothing you can’t do now that you could do 30 years ago. If there is, please name it. I’m dying to know why you spend your remaining time angry and afraid. Other than the obvious generational anger that has existed since the dawn of time.
So you have more experience than most people have today? Seriously?
You have YOUR experiences, nothing else. There are literally hundreds of millions of people in this world that have experiences that you couldn’t even comprehend. There are people on your street that have had experiences that you can’t even comprehend. The arrogance it must take to believe that you are somehow special because of the life you’ve lived. I have relatives with military service records and vibrant interesting lives who aren’t running around claiming they know what’s best. I had grandparents, who survived conditions that are inconceivable to just about any American under the age of 90, that never ran around bragging that they are right and everyone else is wrong.
You live in a small town in a small state. You served in the military and that is admirable. But it is not unique. My father, who also served in the military, never assumed he was the arbiter of social norms. He never bragged that his experience made him special. Never spoke of women or minorities as inferior. Never condemned entire generations out of fear. It may be hard for you to accept, but your impression of the world today is simply the opinion of one man. An opinion developed through the narrow scope of a single person’s experiences.
Oh I’m sorry Ms. 2nd grade spelling bee champion. At least the people at Walmart are WORKING! And here LEGALLY.
PS. I’m not angry Snowflake
Haha. Yes, clearly you’re not angry. Nor are you a delicate snowflake. It’s obvious by your calm and thoughtful response.
Ps That wasn’t just a spelling mistake, it was the wrong word there skippy. And illegal immigrants can’t get Medicaid. I know you don’t believe that, but I’m in the healthcare industry and I’m here to tell you, they can’t. It’s literally the law. The complex paperwork involved can not be completed without proving citizenship.
Find something new to be angry (yes angry) about. You hate illegals so much (my Irish born grandparents came here illegally through Canada btw, you probably sing songs about them) then get mad at the companies that hire them. Including Walmart. Are you mad at the guy who sells drugs, or the drugs themselves?
And stop being so damn sensitive. Dig into the federal budget sometime. That will help you see where the money is going and who actually deserves your ire. Hint: it isn’t poor people.
Mr Ironically Named Fact
What are you talking about? Where are you getting your information? Have you ever spent one second with anyone living in this country illegally?
I don’t know you, but I would bet the farm that you wouldn’t last 10 minutes in their shoes. Look around *****, every low wage, back breaking job in this area (buss boys, cleaning women, roofers, lawn maintenance, and on, are being done by those lazy freeloaders that ‘get everything for free’.
There is not a harder working class of people, nor more devoutly Catholic, than the ‘illegals’ living here trying for a piece of the American dream. Some of laziest people I know are legal citizens living in mommy and daddy’s house til it is eventually willed to them. Or ‘’working” at daddy’s company.
These illegals you are so dismissive of are no different than the Irish, Italian, or German immigrants from the late 19th early 20th century. Labeled as dogs, freeloaders, scum, non-Americans (ignoring the native Americans before them). Read an article from the 1870s about Irish immigrants. It is an astonishing nearly word for word diatribe matching today’s rhetoric about Hispanics. Next time you’re out at a restaurant, or walking in the neighborhood, or passing a construction site, or anything really, open your eyes and look who is working the hardest. You, and people like you, are blind to these people. You didn’t see them as people at all. You watch cable news, while a fleshy heavily made up millionaire screams and spits at the camera that these brown invaders are ruining our way of life. Turn off the TV. Go outside and take a look at the world around you. You may learn something.
Those who are ignorant of their past, are doomed to repeat it.
Ah Joe D, the one who never debates, just regurgitates the talking points he hears on his cartoons for simpletons.
Take any point I made, any one, and refute it. You won’t. You can’t. Your kind of anger and hatred isn’t based in truth, it’s based in fear. And that fear, like all fear, is based in ignorance.
You don’t debate your position, because you don’t have one. It’s all armchair intolerance, all the time.
And, to add to the long list of things you’re wrong about; I don’t even like Biden.
Peace to you this forthcoming Holiday Season.
You are absolutely correct. And I wish we could ban the word FREE from our vocabulary. NOTHING. NOTHING. NOTHING is FREE. You and me, hard working people, PAY for the FREE crap that the government gives to those that have been sucked in to being lazy. When you give people FREE money, as was done during the Covid flu, it changes people to want more. Hence, retail theft through the roof that you and I, honest law abiding people, pay for. And while we are at it, let’s ban the word EXPERTS. Remember all those EXPERTS a few years ago. You show me one EXPERT with a view and I’ll find two EXPERTS to counter them.
Free stuff! There is no hope for you. Those Irish, Italian, German immigrants all came here legally! They worked hard with no handouts.
I do agree with you on one thing. Entitled kids today are lazy. The future of our country is frightening.
They didn’t all come here legally. Ellis island wasn’t founded til the late 19th century. And even then, many European immigrants (like my Irish grandparents) came through Canada illegally. South Asian immigrants through the west.
The central and southern American immigrants I see are working as hard as any of the immigrants of old.
What’s happening now is good old fashioned xenophobia. Same as back in the day. But then it was because the Irish were Catholics and the Italians were dark.
If the modern wave of illegal immigrants were fair skin and blond, no one would give a rat’s ass.
And I wasn’t talking about entitled kids. I was talking about entitled grown ups. Grown ups who have had every advantage imaginable and still scream and yell about ‘the illegals’. While ignoring the ones cleaning their gutters, mowing their laws, and scrubbing their toilets.
I agree that the future is frightening. But my fear is the staggering amount of hypocrites who believe everything they hear and have no interest in simply educating themselves on the history of this nation.
New Jersey Democrats, including Paterson City Council President Alex Mendez and Dr. Henrilynn Ibezim, are facing state election fraud charges related to voter registration and mail-in ballots.
Mendez is accused of collecting mail-in ballots, checking them for votes in his favor, destroying those that weren’t, and replacing them with fraudulent ballots.
He also allegedly tampered with witnesses and evidence. Ibezim is charged with bringing fake voter registration applications to the post office.
NJ Republicans
Frederick Gattuso
Frederick Gattuso, former Carteret Republican mayoral candidate, was charged with one count of fraudulent voting for voting twice during the November 2020 presidential election as different people with similar names. Gattuso pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with public records and was sentenced to one year of probation.
Fernando Gonzalez won a seat on the Perth Amboy City Council by 10 votes in an election where at least 13 illegal absentee ballots were cast. A Superior Court judge subsequently overturned the election results and ordered a new election be held in May 2015 for the seat

Not to mention other republicans:
RALEIGH, N.C. — Four people pleaded guilty on Monday to misdemeanors for their roles in absentee ballot fraud in rural North Carolina during the 2016 and 2018 elections. The convictions stemmed from an investigation that in part resulted in a do-over congressional election.
You see, unlike you, I can grasp the fact that both major political parties engage in cheating. Nobody wants Menendez convicted more than I do. I am not a tunnel vision voter who sees the world in black and white. Vote for the best PERSON, not because of the little letter next to their name. I hope one day you will understand.
Finally.
Both sides do. I wouldn’t say ALL, but bad eggs from both sides of the aisle engage in fraud and corruption. Liberal democrats or conservative republicans. Neither side has all the good ideas or all the bad ideas. The sooner we all realize that, the sooner we’ll stop being at each other’s throats.
He certainly is consistent!

The illegals don’t need Medicaid because everything for them is FREE! Food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care and driver’s licenses.
You are a fool. Maybe tooooo much Biden digestion.
This is a Blog post about Voter Registration from almost 2 years ago.

NJ Democrats

They all do
