  1. The public trust doctrine is the law. (Deleted by Editor.) The little fiefdoms and their stupid badge rules are arbitrary and ambiguous. For about eight hours a day, for about two and a half months out of the year, there are ridiculous rules about where you can swim, surf, sit, walk, and enjoy the beach.

  2. Hey all the folks that rallied against the offshore wind farms! Remember? The sonar they use kills whales.
Well, dust off your signs and your megaphones because we need to hit the streets again. Trump signed an executive order allowing companies to drill the ocean floor for rare metals. This will not only use the same whale killing sonar but it will cause irreparable harm to the ocean itself.
Who’s with me? Let’s go!!! Let’s fight this!!!

    Um, hello? Anyone? Anyone?

Oh that’s right, you’re in a bunch of hypocrites.

      1. Haha. Classic deflection. The go to cowardly move of the Trump cultist.
Sprinkle a little disregard for the constitution and for the rule of law on top, and you have the anti-American sundae.
Bon appetit’ my friend, bon appetit’.

      2. I don’t think I could afford another term with Mr Trump. My grocery bill is higher than it was.
I like him and his pro America stances. But I think maybe the tariffs are not what he thought they’d be. And I’m not crazy about deporting US citizens. It should be just the illegals I see everywhere.

      3. Agree! I was never a big fan of the constitution and I love paying $8 for a dozen eggs. Heil Trump!

I look forward to the total shock when your Medicare and social security get gutted. I know it’s bad to celebrate something like that, but there is nothing more satisfying than just deserts.

  3. I feel bad for the badge checkers this season, many whom are seniors and have been working the beachfront for years. They’ll have to deal with the folks who are going to give them a hard time about having badges. Then the cell phone videos will come out and Belmar will be all over the news again.

    1. One easy way to fix that worry is to not have badges. Let the county cover the cost of lifeguards and the rake. Or, if that isn’t financially acceptable, replace the life guards with ‘swim at own risk’ signs. If you don’t charge people for the privilege of stepping into the sand, then you absolve yourself of responsibility.

  4. (Deleted by Editor.) if people don’t buy badges then just let them know they need a badge and if they don’t buy them then let the beach cops do their jobs and write the tickets. Everybody needs to calm down a bit and LHD is correct that everyone needs to be on their best behavior this summer or else Belmar is going to get another black eye.

End the insane policy of each town having their own specially priced beach badge with their own special rules. In spring lake you can get on the beach without a badge if you are surfing. In Belmar, you can get on without a badge if you are fishing. In Normandy, you can surf wherever you want.
      It’s ridiculously stupid.
