  1. JCP&L rate up 20%
    NJNG rate up 12%
Belmar water & sewer rate up 12%
Belmar school / municipal tax rate up ?%

all of the above contribute to the cost of housing … ‘affordable housing’ is a New Jersey government joke!

  2. Has anyone actually read the article? Aside from obvious political grand standing from a GOP panderer, it’s pretty clear why it’s going up.
The gov has been pushing for renewable energy sources and gets shot down at every turn. Now, the rates are going up (mostly due to high demand) and this is somehow the gov’s fault? If you want to keep getting power the old fashioned way, it will cost you.

      1. Ok, if you believe that, then deal with the higher rates. I don’t know what else to tell you.
People who are truly independent and don’t rely on the public utility system, use wind and solar.
You seem content on using the same energy sources we’ve used since the 19th century. Energy sources that are literally symbols traded on the stock market for profit. Thats your prerogative, but to me, that’s dumb.

        1. Need nuclear energy. However. the government ****** think wind will be enough. Oh so making money is a bad thing. Bye Commie

          (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

          1. If I was a ‘commie’, I would be promoting the public utility option. You know, the one you seem to love so dearly. Yes, nuclear is an option. Do you have 20 billion dollars lying around? That will get you one. And would you mind if we build it along the shark river? No? Why not? It’s perfectly safe. All those radiation leaks from those other reactors were one offs. Several one offs. No, wind won’t take the place of oil and gas by itself. But wind and solar together, when properly funded (I recommend about 1/100th the amount we’ve funded oil companies) it will make a huge difference. And no, there is nothing wrong with making money. But there is something wrong with having our number one fuel source tied to the markets. That’s why when some shah sneezes in Saudi, the price of oil goes up $5 a barrel.
Either you are too sacred to let go of the past or too ignorant to understand. TRUE energy independence comes from renewable energy sources. We can’t drill our way to independence because we are already the world’s largest oil producer. Which I guarantee is something you didn’t know. Our electric and gas is regulated to the eyeballs by Uncle Sam. It’s time to let go, commie.

  3. Belmar school / municipal tax rate up ?%
    ——————————————————————
Yep, that **** school eats up over half the tax money in our town.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

    1. That school educates children. And they don’t get to choose which children they educate. There are plenty of places to live where you don’t have to be offended by the public school system. Iraq, Yemen, Bhutan, Chad. You’d enjoy Iraq. Religion is compulsory, they aren’t very interested in due process, and women know their place.

      1. “and women know their place.”
        ———————————————————-
I see nothing wrong with women knowing their place just as I see nothing wrong with men knowing their place in the society – we all have different functions in this life.
Once either sex tresspases across those lines, extreme problems occur as we are seeing during our time.

        1. Mr D. The extreme “problems” we are seeing are related to the reactions of close minded traditionalists. Your personal gender stereotypes are based on a long life of experiencing women as second class citizens, whose place is the kitchen and minding her own business.
When women become pilots or doctors or (gasp) military personnel, it makes you uncomfortable. You like tradition. You like things to stay the same. I get it, it’s comforting. And yes, the world can be a big scary place, so normalcy is like a pacifier.
But change happens. People evolve. Races of people are no longer owned by other races of people. Women earn the right to vote.
If you are referring to the infinitesimally small percentage of the population that is ***********, well I merely say, what do you care? How on earth is it effecting your life in any way shape or form? Aren’t republicans the party of personal freedom? How about letting people be free without government interference?
The good news is, life goes on. Every societal change since the time of cave drawings is met with violent opposition from certain groups. That violent opposition is always based in fear. And the violent opposition is always overcome.
My advice, stop worrying so much about change and accept it.

          (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

    2. Shouldn’t the taxes be lower? There is about half the amount of students at Belmar Elementary since 10 years ago. The 2nd floor is just about empty.

      1. The education system is just horrible. Not cost effective. Too many administrators? Too many teacher assistants.? Too expensive insurance plans? Too much money spent on free lunch that most kids won’t eat? A complete mess. The country is doomed.

        1. Mr D, for the first time in my life, I agree with your post. And, it’s literally how your post is written that makes me agree. It doesn’t seem like you’re asking questions, but you put question marks after most of the sentences. One sentence has both a period AND a question mark. And at least two of the sentences, due to a lack of basic sentence structure, aren’t sentences at all.
You have convinced me, sir. Based on your embarrassing grammar and punctuation mistakes, I have to agree that our education system needs an overhaul. And I congratulate you on your self awareness and your willingness to showcase your deficiencies so openly.
          Thank you

          1. So I cant spell and have correct punctuations? I’m so old i can hardly see the screen. Have some sympathy. You too my get old some day.

          2. You’ll get no sympathy from me, sir. Your age is no excuse. Tom Wolfe, Toni Morrison, Elmore Leonard, James Salter, all keep writing well into their 80s and 90s. Get some glasses and take a class on basic grammar. It is never too late to improve oneself.
Plus, you are constantly complaining about, well, everything. You insult entire segments of the population based on your own stubborn, and totally misguided, prejudices. In essence, you are asking for something you would never give yourself.

        2. Yes it’s the grammar police. Grammar is important. All the books you read, Mr Dilberger, are written properly by men and women (well probably just men in your case) that have been EDUCATED by a robust school system. The written word is how we communicate down through the generations. The ability to express thoughts and ideas in a structured coherent manner is vital.
Those who scoff at education, (you, Joe D) don’t really think about how important properly educated professionals are to your wellbeing.

      2. Um what?
There are plenty of kids in BES. Plus a large portion of taxes goes to Manaquan HS (very expensive) and the other High Schools where Belmar kids go like RBR, etc. We still need to pay for them when they go to HS. K thru 12.
You can attend BOE meetings if you are curious about the money. They are open to the public.

      3. Do you even live in Belmar?
The school is on Main Street between 11th and 12th. You may be thinking of St Rose?

  4. A brand new pope! A brand new American pope! A brand new American pope that is the exact opposite of Trump and Vance!
I may start going to church again!
