  1. I’m glad to see no rubber stamping of appointed professionals. Kevin Kane needs to go back to Freehold. George McGill. Well he is (Deleted by Editor), costing taxpayers a fortune having to hire different attorneys for every little specialization. Hire a firm that has many attorneys that can handle the wide variety of issues that plague municipalities today.

          1. Omg! Someone made a spelling error! Maybe auto correct changed it. Maybe I’m stupid and not perfect LHD but what’s the problem?

  2. The third and fourth paragraphs are infuriating. You cant oppose the VZ towers AND build a permanent bathroom. That’s like having a cake and eating it too.
Also, how does building a permanent bathroom (we do not need) help “improve public safety and protect public assets”.
So when a storm takes it out to sea, it becomes an artificial reef? When will this town have a mayor that isn’t self serving? They all get into office and (Deleted by Editor). The last three anyway.

      1. Bingo Mr C. If we allow this permanent (also unnecessary) bathroom, you can kiss goodbye any valid fight against having cell towers. Hell, the roof of the eyesore will be covered with them.

  3. The taxpayers would like to be reimbursed for the expenses associated with the time spent drafting and reviewing any unnecessary resolutions that were done the three prior years (i.e. BA appointment, etc.).

    1. Good for Katrina calling the mayor out on that. Good to see her back!
Of course the mayor had a ****** response and McGill just played into it as usual.

      (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  4. So every agenda always says public comment portion- or something like that. When is it question portion for the Mayor to actually answer questions- he always says it’s not time for questions but when is the time for questions

  5. This has been a do nothing administration from the get go. For all the critics of the previous administration that all that were hired were their friends……HA…..Go look at Freehold Boro and you will see ALOT of the same names….including now the former HR woman who “secretly” left Belmar and now has a cushy job…..guess where……Freehold Boro. Ya can’t make this s**t up even if you tried!

    1. The whole hiring of this full time HR/ payroll director/ Assistant BA was a **** from the start. Initially hired to do payroll and HR duties at an inflated salary, she was overwhelmed so the boro hired a full time payroll clerk so she could just focus on HR. (Belmar doesn’t need a full time HR Director). Then she was given the duties of HR and Assistant to the BA, so that Kevin Kane could run Freehold on Belmar’s dime at even more of an inflated salary! All this was originally denied by the council but Buccafusco did it anyway.
I know I said a lot but anyone can do the research and see that this was all true.

      (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

    2. I am a resident of Freehold Borough, and in the Borough’s history we have never had a Personnel Director. The responsibilities assigned to this role have always been handled by the Business Administrator and CFO. Creating this position is a waste of taxpayer money and appears to exist solely for job creation.
Our BA in Freehold hires professionals to do most of his job

      1. (Deleted by Editor.) The BA salary and the HR Director’s salary are astronomical. They create jobs that are either not necessary or can be handled by a PT employee. Who the hell needs a FT housing liaison with a PT code enforcement officer???? That’s just the tip of the iceberg

    3. Did you see the sign on 35 in the median advertising the Freehold Boro Job Fair— you are right you can’t make this up

  6. I guess you people want the old BA back. Maybe he has another brother in law who wants to sell a hazardous piece of land to the town

    1. No one said anything about the old BA. Just someone competent, that responds to people’s questions and concerns.

      1. And a BA that doesn’t have other full time responsibilities, isn’t splitting his time and giving Belmar the short end of the stick. Someone with actual experience not just someone who was gifted a high paying position to go towards a pension as a political favor. Look at Freehold’s website and you can see how much Belmar tax payers are paying for their BA to be present in the Borough of Freehold to do his Mayor duties. His BA position in Belmar is full time and he is compensated very well as a full time employee and even more compensated because he is working flexible hours not a full time week

        1. Kevin Kane was just another unemployed, *********** democratic mayor that needed a job. Just like Matt Doherty in Bradley Beach.

          (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

    2. Bingo.
The electorate in this town are as fickle as it gets. The next mayor will promise the world but deliver the same ol same ol. Appointing pals who help other pals.

Do away with the BA position. We survived years without one. Anything started by dirty Doherty can’t be good.

    3. the site is contaminated … not hazardous … just like 1000’s of NJ gas stations that have been remediated and put in use.

      1. Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately that doesn’t change anything.
“Maybe he has another brother in law who wants to sell a contaminated piece of land to the town”
It’s still a situation that is not only true, but almost impossible to believe that we, as taxpayers, allowed to happen.
And, at this point, the property may actually be hazardous as well as contaminated.
Well, at least we paid above market value for it. And we can hold are heads up knowing we enriched the family member of a unelected official. It really is the American we live in now.

    4. No where did i say I want the old BA back…but Walsifer at least knew what he was doing and answered questions…..who all remembers the current mayor grandstanding at meetings demanding transparency….what a joke

  7. I’m sorry but the mayor should just resign. This man is not only rude but he has made horrible decisions for our community. The thought of this man, who by the way kept none of his campaign promises, being around for another year makes me ill. The Democratic Party in Belmar lost its way with this guy. Actually, I think the idea of a nonpartisan town council is a wonderful idea. How about we start voting for the candidate & not the party?

  8. If construction goes well, perhaps Jerry will be bestowed the honor of having the 16th avenue bathrooms named after him. All Mayors need a fitting tribute to their service…

The Walsifer Firehouse and First Aid building
The Buccafusco Bathrooms at 16th Ave.
