Scroll down to the Run For The Fallen reminder –
It would be great to have a large crowd at both stops.

  1. To me, this seems like a desperation letter. Please vote for me (Donovan) because if I lose I’m gone, but if I win DeBlasio still stays on council, a win win. Same message on Democrats social media page.
No Caitlin, people are tired of the last almost 4 years and want a change.
Using the boroughs social media pages to promote your “mayors moments’ platform is sketchy and probably ********** *********.
To the residents of Belmar, if want a win win, vote for DeBlasio and Anan. They are not phony. They are for real!

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

        1. Do you sponsor the post so it shows up on people’s feed? Is that free? Who is producing it? Was there a permit to film?

Im a facebook group admin for a belmar page. Its not all free.

  2. He’s right. If you want a balanced council, vote Donavan. If you want all republicans (as terrible an idea as all democrats), vote DeBlasio. It’s that simple.

It’s a wonderful event, the Run For The Fallen. Out of curiosity though, we have two days out of the year, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, where we honor the fallen. That doesn’t include: National Vietnam War Veterans Day, National Medal of Honor Day, Armed Forces Day, and National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Now I’m not saying we shouldn’t honor the fallen, I have three generations of KIA men in my fam. But sometimes you wonder why not make it a part of one of the several days of remembrance that already exist.

    1. That’s ridiculous
Two that are running are independent thinkers

Let’s get rid of all the signs
Let’s get rid of all the dividers

      Let’s make one Belmar

    1. I think that’s his point. He is literally talking about the people working together despite party affiliation. I think you meant to say he got it all right? Donovan and DeBlasio work well together. They can continue to work well together.
‘Blind party loyalty is bad’ seems to be at the heart of this letter.

  3. I read this and I feel that you are so in the dark. People like you, those candidates, their campaign manager and the rest of that group running their campaign are not the same Democratic Party as we remember. They are something else.

    1. Explain pls. What is different? They have a platform that aligns with what Democrats have always stood for. The campaign is run like all campaigns before it. It’s also run, structurally away, identically to the republicans campaign. It ain’t rocket science.
You can’t just say things without backing it up with either examples, or, heaven forbid, facts.

      1. These are not the democrats of our generation. This is a new breed but not improved.

        The lost dems.

Town would be better with no party at all

  4. And these are the questions I am referring to…this campaign will do anything to win, except being sincere.

Bill, where do you really live?

  5. Iran war is now at $43 billion and climbing. The national debt is at a record $40 trillion. The WH continued to spend spend spend on frivolous vanity projects.
Are there any real republicans left? The republicans of my father’s generation? Reagan republicans? Fiscal conservatives with actual values. Where is the outrage? Hello?
What happen to the GOP? That’s my first question to anyone with and R next to their name on the ballot.

    1. The GOP of yesterday (small gov, personal freedom and fiscal responsibility) has handed the car keys to a lunatic. The last time trump was prez, he cost the republicans the presidency and both houses of congress. In November they will again lose both houses of congress. And in Nov of 2028, they will lose the presidency.

Why you keep giving this used care salesman power is beyond me. Everything he represents flies in the face of conservative doctrine. He’s a celebrity, nothing more. Not capable of critical thinking, no intellectual curiosity, failing health, cognitive decline, and an unhealthy obsession with pop stars. It’s weird and more than a little creepy.

    2. Hahahahaaa and you think the democratic party now is the same party of JFK….even Clinton??? Democratic party is now the party of Socialism….I ask the same questions to anyone with a D next to their name on the ballot…..cuts both ways *insert eyeroll*

      1. Dear Mr R’s love America (silly) Did you drive on a highway today? Cross a bridge? Do you have Medicare? Do you collect social security? Have you been to an airport? Have money in a bank? Have you called the police ever? Have you been to a national park? A state park? A library? The beach? Used a ladder? Pushed a wheelchair up an installed ramp? Received a product that came through a port? I could go on and on.
Have you done any of these things? If so, you have engaged in socialism. All of these things and more are collectively paid for by society. Us. Whether you use them or not. That, my silly friend, is socialism.
Maybe take a trip to the public library and take out a “free” book on US history.

Lastly, the president just rolled out the red carpet for, and fawned all over, the communist leader of China. He’s an R embracing a red. Is that how you show love for America? I didn’t think so.

  6. And let’s not forget ol Mitch. What a job! Disappear for months, come back and be so unable to work that you vote wrong and have to literally be corrected! Unreal.
How many times did Mitch McConnell vote against extra time off for employees? A hundred, a thousand? This is a guy who has spent his career taking away the rights of workers and has the most generous PTO package on the planet. We put this *%#}.

      1. The major difference being that Feinstein didn’t vote AGAINST time off packages for workers. McConnell did. In a hypocrisy that can be seen from outer space, McConnell took advantage of a generous leave package, the kind he has worked his entire career preventing other people from getting.
Not all the same. Some are even worse than others.
If keeping score: Feinstein has 75 days compared to Mitch’s 92.

  7. Every time I go onto Route 35 I say thank you Jerry for bringing a little Jersey City to the Jersey shore. Do you realize that hideous mess will be rentals only?

Thank you, Jerry, I think I will vote again for a repeat and vote for Donovan.

This way all our decisions here in BELMAR are made by the state.

    1. The Route 35 project was proposed in 2021 under Walsifer & Company, who passed an ordinance in January 2022 to spot amend the Seaport Redevelopment Plan and allow 5 stories and a max height of 60 feet for that property. Mayor Walsifier also insisted that the developer was working with boro engineers and planners.

The Repetti’s chose to sell their private property to developers. Developers develop. At the same time, Belmar had been failing in their fair share housing obligations over several administrations. Just so happened to be around the time the state decided we all needed to get in line. A perfect storm comes together and we end up with a massive development on Route 35. That is a failure of multiple mayors, planning boards, zoning boards and engineers.

      1. The failure was a person representing our beloved town of Belmar took the easy path.

The correct path was a much harder path but the outcome would have benefitted the town and the infrastructure.

Don’t blame anyone but, the Dem Mayor and BA and the state of NJ.

        1. The wheels were already in motion. If you strike the plan down you risk a builder’s remedy lawsuit, and guess who would have come out on top in that situation? I’ll give you a hint: It would not have been Belmar.

Also, the mayor and council does not have final approval over site-specific projects, that’s the planning board’s job. I will again state that this is a failure of multiples.

    2. If you honestly believe that the rt 35 project is former mayor Buccafusco’s fault, there really is no hope for reasoning with you.
That beast was conceived of long before Buccafusco and was a forgone conclusion before he was sworn in. Doherty and Walsifer kicked the affordable housing can down the road. That politically motivated act made it impossible to fight the developer. That’s a fact.
You can be angry at Buccafusco for all kinds of things, that monstrosity ain’t one of em. Sorry.

      1. It’s so unfortunate that even when the truth is told to you, you refuse to believe it. Even when the person is telling you the truth to your face.

You obviously don’t go to the meetings.
Jerry took full credit for this colossal abomination.

What more proof do you need?

      2. You are in the dark. He was taking bows for his accomplishment of making that transaction happen on his watch. He was quite proud that the Route 35 building went through.

        1. Have you even gone to a meeting? Like literally one meeting? That’s not true and you know it isn’t. If you want to hate the former mayor Buccafusco, go ahead, there are plenty of things to be upset about. But the project isn’t one of them. All of the documents around this fiasco are public. Look for yourself. This was Doherty and Walsifer scoring political points while painting us all into a corner. They didn’t care. And worse, they now (Dorherty at least) pretend that this development is outrageous. The hypocrisy is legendary

      3. Who controls the seaport redevelopment plan? Isn’t Buccafusco on the planning board as well. Is it true the car dealership area is the next to construct large buildings thanks to these plans. Asking for a friend.

  8. I want to thank the Belmar Arts Council for all they do for the community.
I’m looking forward to viewing Ms. Anan’s art exhibit at the Taylor Pavilion on September 24th.

  9. Question for the republicans out there. You guys are staunch second amendment absolutists, for the most part? Yes? The second amendment, famously, gives the right to bear arms (in a “well regulated” militia but we’ll ignore that for now, no one like to hear the word regulated when I comes to guns even though it’s literally in the language) and that right is considered sacrosanct as constitutional law.
But you seem much more loosey goosey on the FIRST amendment. The most important one, frankly.
It explicitly forbids the government from infringing on the freedom of speech, the freedom of the PRESS, and the freedom to protest, among other things.
Trump just banned three news organizations from the people’s house. He isn’t crazy about the coverage. Never mind that they are literally just reporting on the things he does, he doesn’t like it. It is a blatant violation of the first amendment. So, why is it you guys lose your minds over the second amendment but do nothing about the first? Would love to hear how you rationalize that. And for historical context, no other president in the history of the US has banned a news outlet. And for analogy purposes, imagine how you’d react if Obama banned Fox News (who regularly provided horrible coverage of his presidency).
I do not think I’ll get a response, because it’s literally indefensible, but I wanted to pose it anyway. Thank you for your time.

  10. I know it’s easy to fight over developments and local politics. But the president of the US has surpassed $900 million dollars on White House “renovation” projects. Nine hundred million dollars. Tax payer dollars.
Yes that project on 35 is ridiculous. Yes you can probably blame every mayor from Doherty on. But we are being robbed blind by the federal government. And that is what’s on my mind this November.
