  1. #1 They screwed up when they made the 10th ave building. They thought they could make 60 apts and have only 60 parking spots with the other side of the parking area filled with retail. They decided early on to abandon the retail stores ( they bricked up the store windows) and made more parking for the residents.
You are completely correct. There are a couple of dozen PUBLIC parking spots in the parking area. They are limited time spots ( I think 9am to 6pm, 3hrs max) and the PUBLIC PARKING signs are only visible from INSIDE the parking area.

  2. I hope every Jack’s customer parks there. Jacks should put up a sign saying public parking down the street

  3. Now it might be 13th according to #3, but what happens if they approve the development where the motor lodge is? There will be even less parking that parking at the Spring Lake station might be easier.

  4. #1-I don’t disagree that the meetings should be held on different days, but the Police Chief oversees Belmar AND Lake Como.

  5. How many times this week, has Belmar called us all via code red to tell us about drunk day Sunday. Parade day is only important to the bars.

  6. We get so many non-emergency calls from the town about parades and other stupidity that I almost missed today’s call about break-ins.

  7. Question. Everyone says if we stop importing oil/gas from Russia, the price of fuel will go up. Biden chose to continue taking oil from them which I disagree with. We should be energy independent. Even if it takes awhile we will be better prepared in the future.
My question is, if we are still getting oil from Russia why is the price of gas going up .20 cents every other day?

  8. Thank you Editor for allowing public discourse of the horrendous situation President Biden has put our country into by purchasing any Oil from Russia (theoretically subsidizing his unlawful incursion into Ukraine) and Venezuela vs opening USA Pipeline fuel streams. Are was as feckless here in the USA as.our leader?

  9. Prices are going up because of fossil fuel oil company greed-plain and simple.
Our prior “leader” had no interest in making the US energy independent as he was too busy trying to emulate his dictator idols Putin and Xi.
He could have continued our nations path to energy self reliance but opposed the path to electric and solar and made his oil tycoon buddies richer with an unnecessary tax cut as soon as he arrived in office.

  10. #3 when the lot was there prior to the Deppe building going up there was a time limit on those spots as well; There are also time limits on the spots on main street; I recall when that was the open lot pre-building apts on 10th the inner aisles were 10 or 12 hours and the spots on an angle closest to the commercial building that was there was either two hour or 3 hour parking. I believe it is to help spot creation for the retail businesses on Main so people don’t take up spots for days upon days. Plus the parking tickets for when you go over the time limit are very expensive, no matter how hard I try I always manage to get at least one or two a season and at 45 dollars a piece. Anyway long story short they were always time limited parking spaces in the public lot even before depeppe

  11. True, there were time limit parking spaces. The center island at 10th and the plaza were 2 hrs for the businesses. The commuter lot where depee building is was all day for commuters but not all night. But it was rarely enforced there.
Unlike the black van parked in front of the bait shop which hasn’t moved in years. But it’s ok, it’s the ex chief of police van

  12. #18: who pays for your gasoline at the pump or are you a wealthy electric vehicle owner. Hot air works on the water in a skiff too.

  13. did the rail commute for 30+ years and always parked in the 10th Avenue lot … only got 1 violation ticket … Belmar PD chalked my tires as evidence that the vehicle wasn’t moved overnight.

  14. #16/#17 It’s annoying that this has to be explained to grown adults, but here goes. First, there is no US oil market. There is only a GLOBAL oil market. We will never be totally energy independent with fossil fuels. The reason being that if a foreign country or company wants to buy gas or oil from a US company for more than an American company wants to pay for the same oil or gas, the US oil company is going to sell it to them. Period. It’s called the free market. Oil is a traded commodity in the financial markets. Its price fluctuates over supply and demand. If you want the government to dictate who gets what at what price, well that’s socialism. You’re against that I assume. Becoming truly ‘energy independent’ means getting away from fossil fuels. As long as we use fossil fuels, we are subject to price increases due to weather events, political instability, and good old fashioned spikes in demand. The President, no matter who is in power, has nothing to do with gas prices. If Trump had won a second term, the prices would be where they are now (the keystone pipeline pumps Canadian tar sands oil across our country. That stuff doesn’t get turned into gasoline. I assume you didn’t know that). The very same people who scream about government interference being the bane of capitalism, want government interference in capitalism.
