  1. After watching this BHA meeting several times, there are several points to bring up.

#1. The long drawn out delay getting funding to repair the facade. We know state government surplus is not a guarantee whether it be pet projects or COVID RELIEF ACT
Surplus. Why not reach out to an engineering firm. MATCHING FUNDS.

#2. The lack of sharing information with the tenants such as
    TUBCUTS, etc. shows no responsibility/accountability.

#3. I notice that the number of commissioners attending BHA meetings has decreased. To use phones for commissioners missing inaction is totally unprofessional (with acceptance of commissioner undergoing surgery) Allowing this to occur shows there is no steadfast responsibility or obligation to follow the by-laws of BHA.
    NO wonder there are problems!

  2. Ah. So all those people who came to meetings prior to the last election were really just politicking. They all cared so much right? Where are they now?

    1. They care more than you know. They keep in touch via email.
Some have written letters to the COAST STAR. There is a blog Friends of Belmar Housing. A big problem is they are portrayed as troublemakers by the administration.
Only a few tenants go to the meetings, one or two voice their concerns. Have any of you driven by the senior building? Do you see scaffolding surrounding the building?
The condition of the facade is highly collapsible. The executive dir has been waiting for months for a grant from Chris Smith. pet project. COVID RELIEF FUND ACT.
      Will it even materialize?

  3. We are still here Anonymous. Still working to improve conditions. Doing all that I have the power to do. I learned years ago that one may go to meetings and voice their concern and ideas, but when the meetings are run by those who are hostile to anything said, it’s usually a waste of time. The last meeting I went to, the Exec. Director Mr. Desantis demanded that I answer his questions after I spoke. I’m not the one being paid to perform a job, answer questions, or take responsibility. I’m just the public who disagrees with their decisions. The Belmar housing authority board that allows that man to bully and intimidate all who dissent while they watch makes you wonder what their actual purpose is. Either way, Councilwoman Rondinaro has been superb in working with getting reports and answers to my inquiries. Progress is slowly happening.
If the Belmar elementary school building had half the issues the senior building did, this town would be in revolt. Both are owned by the public and run by taxpayer dollars. The only difference is the senior building doesn’t elect their board directly. They are appointed by other political entities. Complaining to these appointments have fallen on deaf ears. One has to go higher up the ladder to fix the real problems. Hopefully the current Mayor learned this lesson from the last one. Maybe those complaining have a valid point and a little political pressure can go a long way in helping their voters, even at the senior building.
