Thank you, Caitlin, for the Update

And for the Info on Chris Smith’s Proposed Legislation

  1. This is a quintessentially bi-partisan issue. An excellent example of two sides working together for the betterment of society. I disagree with nearly everything that Chris Smith says and does. And there are many who do not trust council person Donovan because of the little letter after her name on a ballot.
But here we are, two conflicting tribes working together. In a time when the country seems ready to rip itself in two, it is a beautiful thing to see these folks work together to help the community.
Thank you council person Donovan and thank you representative Smith.

Now can someone tell me why on earth Verizon would want to do this? I have Verizon cell service, I live in Belmar, my coverage is totally fine. Is this to help people who are so bored at the beach that they need to watch a movie on their phone? Or desperately need to, more quickly, update their status on a social media profile that is being looked at, for reasons that I could live to be one thousand and never understand, by other people? A beach that is utterly empty nine months out of the year. I mean seriously. Shouldn’t these towers be going up somewhere rural? Somewhere west of nowhere? Where this is no cell service. This feels like someone demanding to erect a bunch of stores all along the boardwalk so they can sell little piles of sand.
Hey Verizon, we’re good. Go build your towers where they’re needed.

  2. Ms. Donovan- can we get some transparent and real information on the new projects going up in Belmar as a result of the affordable housing litigation. When you discovered this verizon issue as a result of a litigation that was started by Verizon and filed against the Borough. You (and others) blamed the administration for not being transparent with the litigation and settlement to the Borough residents. Now you are sitting by and allowing Mayor B to keep the details of a litigation started by the Borough over a year ago and the details of these settlements and projects behind closed doors to quote Mayor B “attorney/client Privilege” and “can’t discuss on going litigation matters with the residents”. So which is it because everyone called out the prior Mayors (including yourself and Mayor B) saying all litigation issues should be discussed in front of the residents, yet now for this administration it’s okay to hide behind the guise of “pending litigation” and “attorney client/Privilege”. I am going to submit an OPRA request for the Court Order that prohibits the Mayor and Council from discussing this matter with the residents- absent that it’s just an excuse by the Mayor and shows his true colors as a Hypocrite. As he is doing the same thing that he said was not lawful for other administrations to do. Councilwoman Donovan- you were our hope to keep things transparent please do not let the residents down.

    1. If you were in the middle of a court case would you broadcast details and strategies in public? We will be shown these details and plans in due time. And I believe they still need to go before the planning board. No one is hiding anything from you!

      1. You are very wrong, and the Borough has provided settlement agreements to these four developers and things are moving forward. The upcoming presentation before the residents is for appearance purposes only as the Borough has already agreed to terms before the Superior Court, these are done deals and the Mayor has been in discussions about these specific projects giving his comments for over a year. As for the Planning Board will see it just to vote that it complies with the agreement of the plans, they will not be able to change unit counts, heights, setbacks, etc., The Mayor took them out of this by filing the litigation first before working with the Boards. Maybe you should do some research LHD. And the Mayor is not in the middle of the lawsuit it’s the Borough of Belmar- the residents/taxpayers are footing the bill for the whole thing the residents are the clients. The Suit is not against Jerry individually

  3. The tik tok video John Walsh posted just after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, where a man was killed, is in such poor taste. How dare he! Is this really what the mayor wants representing him??? Try showing a little compassion and respect. Are your “likes” and “followers” really more important than just being a good person? You should be ashamed of yourself. And the mayor really should address this.

  4. Fudge I totally agree with you. Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, I was completely appalled when someone showed me that video. Democratic congressman Thompson fired a staffer for their inappropriate comment. John Walsh’s actions were worse. Dressing up as Donald Trump, on stage in D’jais, drinking shots with a bandaid on his ear was disgusting. Is this who we want representing our Mayor, our town! I am calling on mayor Buccafusco to condemn Walsh’s behavior and terminate him immediately!
