The residents of NJ voted overwhelmingly to legalize marijuana as did the residents of Belmar. The Mayor and Council should respect the voters on this one.
Sitting on my deck couging my brains out due to the wafting smell the legal weed from the 20 summer renters 2 doors down, ah yes the bars sure do look better to us Weezers so we can breathe easier outdoors.
Shouldn’t it be all about the money? C’mon, man, increased revenue and relaxed people. Air pollution, a bit. Side effect from whiffing the cloud, maybe a smile from “nowhere”.

Dispensaries in Belmar a no go for me,
The lousy 2% on sales tax the municipality may make isn’t worth the quality of life issues it would bring. We already have enough problems with alcohol. We have major parking issues already. Not to mention there is no way to prevent driving while high and no way to know if someone is under the influence.
I’d like us to stay the more family oriented place we’ve struggled to become over the last 20 years.
Go ahead and smoke your joint on your front porch. Have it delivered right to your doorstep along with all the other amazon packages.
Let’s keep the beautiful ocean the reason people come to Belmar. Remember restrictions put in place can be loosened but if no restrictions are put in place by deadline there is no turning back or tightening for FIVE years!!!
The Council did the right thing standing up. The Massachusetts MJ Story was misleading inasmuch as the town where the Dispensary was located was the only one for a hundred miles. False advertising. Also it’s not difficult to register for a new Dispensary not very different from registering and voting in NJ.
Djais line for entry all the way down to the corner of 19th avenue last night. Right of way blocking our borough sidewalks. Lot’s of fun stuff beyond marijuana. Move along residents this is our summer and we still own the town.
Do you really think the Mob is going to just sit back and let their Bar income go up in smoke? Me thinks Hookah Lounge areas will be the next best thing for their income. Of course you bring your own, pay the cover and the usage fee, buy a glass and their income is static.
Hope Belmar joins many other towns and bans the sale of pot within its borders.
