  1. Or…the city of Asbury could step in and save the iconic (and let’s face it, very cool) historical landmark in their town. I guess they can hit up Bruce, but he has already parted with more than a few buck for Asbury Park. The turf club, the senior center, and various other charitable projects to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not to mention donating his talents to fundraising events through the years.
Or they can be like Belmar and just tear down historically significant structures to make way for oversized cheesy fake Mediterranean condos. Developers gotta eat too.

  2. Or maybe Madison Marquette should be held responsible for breaking their contracts and allowing those buildings to fall into complete disrepair. We’ve seen that game… ignore what needs to be fixed until OH NO WE NEED TO TEAR IT DOWN, then build condos that only very rich people can afford. Same old, same old.

  3. He forgot about Asbury a long time ago. He is busy making money off divisive politics.

He went from Born in the USA to Illegally Migrate into the USA.

    1. Listen to the lyrics of Born In The USA. You, and many like you, have no idea what the song is about. And as a result, you get mad when Bruce “gets political”. Ignoring, or not realizing, the fact that he has always been political. As have most of great artists. Heck, there are even artists that are political shills for the right. Do you complain about Ted Nugent or Kid Rock or, well that’s really it, getting political? No of course you don’t. It’s only political if you are afraid of what they’re saying.

  4. I grew up loving Springsteen music. I played Greetings From Asbury Park and Born to Run until the grooves wore out on the albums. Now I wouldn’t take a free ticket to see him.

    1. So you wore out the grooves without listening to the lyrics at all or paying attention to what he was saying? Seems like an impossible thing to do.
Springsteen has made his political stance known since the 70s with openly supporting McGovern in ‘72 and the ‘No Nukes’ concert in ‘79. Since then, he has always used his talents and position to promote what he feels are important causes. Openly and consistently for the last nearly 50 years.

If I may suggest something that you probably aren’t going to like. He hasn’t changed, you have.

  5. This is a wonderful structure. I hope they don’t demolish it. But like any structure it needs maintenance. Obviously, there hasn’t been and real maintenance done on this structure in many years, especially the walkthrough area on the boardwalk between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove.

Next, they will have to take down Convention Hall. If you walk around it, you can see all the “contemporary” shoring all around the perimeter. AP or the state won’t do anything about the situation until someone is badly injured or killed.
So in time, CH will be gone as well.

    1. One of the extremely rare (to the point of almost never) occasions that I agree with Mr Dilbergers assessment.

These structures are wonderful and historic and need to be preserved through proper maintenance. Or they will, in his words, be gone.

  6. Springsteen is an American icon.
He has done more, through his music and charitable causes, for veterans, farmers, working class individuals, and ordinary Americans than Trump could if he lived to be 1000 years old (God help us).
He walks the walk and has created songs that transcend generations.
Trump dodged the draft, filed for bankruptcy five times, and was found guilty of committing fraud with a charity that was bogus and just gave the money to himself. Not to mention all the other insane ^%#* he’s committed. He is demonstrably a coward, a lech, and a thief.

    1. And you sir are a j***. By him being president he saved us from Kamalalalal. Thank God for that.

      (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

      1. I’m not so sure. Things are pretty bad as far as the economy goes. We have some decades old allies questioning the relationship. We have a pretty glaring executive branch overreach (anathema to conservative values). We have very reckless spending happening (also anathema to conservative values).
So, neither of us have a crystal ball but I don’t think we were “saved” from anything.

    2. Be real, if Trump or someone close to him donated to help to save it, you would still be angry and have something negative to say.

I think we should get Trumps attention. Or Kushner? Heads would explode.

  7. TDS Type I- Trump Derangement Syndrome.
TDS Type II- Trump Deification Syndrome.
Both loud, radical sides are programmed for bifurcation while the rest of us are somewhere in The Sane Middle looking for solutions and still searching for the American Ideal.
