How is it possible that the Boro has the funds to hire someone making $100.00 an hour?! Does anyone know who she is, or what connection she has to Kevin Kane/Buccafusco?
She was hired a month ago at that rate, imagine the money she took in for the past month of work.
This town is a disgrace! Vote for change!!!
I am concerned about a payroll budget item showing a part-time employee earning $100 per hour. As taxpayers and constituents, residents deserve a clear explanation and full transparency regarding how this pay rate was determined, what duties justify this compensation, and how it compares to similar positions within the municipality.
Town council has a responsibility to be open and accountable with public funds. I would like to ask that this matter be publicly explained so residents can better understand how their tax dollars are being spent. This should be the first part of the Council Meeting next week.
Why are we paying $50.00 per hour for part time recreation employees??
Seems like all the employees hired to work in the boro office under this administration are paid very well. Wonder how long it took for long term employees to even get to where these people’s salaries are in one year of service
No wonder so many hardworking long time employees morale is so low.
Well, next meeting there is a lot to discuss – so show up! An employee who was hired a month ago for $100 an hour as an assistant, a water bill and sewage increase that will affect every resident, the Belmar seafood festival and why Klein’s and other local restaurants decided to back out and most of all why the Mayor is not transparent to us tax paying residents, moreover exclaimed in distress at the 4/28 meeting that transparency is crap.
Maybe she was hired to show the Mayor how to act while at Borough Meetings. Or better yet, maybe she is showing Kane how to reply to emails and/or voicemails.
For a party that ran on transparency, they sure are using a lot of smoke and mirrors.
That is almost $1000 a day for this Assistant to the Mayor. This person has been working for a month? So they obviously didn’t return Ollie Klein’s email, or other restaurants that were supposed to be in the seafood festival and now have dropped out.
Same goes for the former payroll/HR clerk who was hired at a much higher rate than her predecessor. Couldn’t handle the job but instead of getting fired she got a promotion, another 30k pay raise, a new office doing God knows what. Fortunately for Belmar residents, BA Kevin Kane saw her potential and hired her in Freehold. Doing God knows what!!
He created a position for her in Freehold. In the history of Freehold, we’ve never had a “personal assistant.” She’s essentially doing work that the BA and CFO are already paid to handle.
It’s a created position with an excessive salary.
We’re dealing with the same issue you are, with the same common denominator. He’s (Deleted by Editor.) Freehold and Belmar.
Spends too much money and we are in 22 million in debt and climbing
He lost the freehold raceway and Nestlé all on his watch. Two establishments that were there for over 100 years he lost on his watch. You can imagine what he is doing to BELMAR but, the admin forgets, people remember. (Deleted by Editor.)
Don’t forget the FICA tax match of about 8% that the Borough must pay. If a person makes $110,000.00 salary the borough’s obligation is about $8,800.00.
Yet the town claims they have no money to give raises to the employees who have been there for years. Everyone’s net pay went DOWN because the cost of our health insurance went up. They also want to take away our health benefits upon retirement and start making us pay 50% of our dental and vision— and that’s just the beginning. Employees are taking home less money per paycheck and the town is only trying to take more from us. Did you know that the new part time employee that makes $100/hour was hired without the knowledge of the CFO? Food for thought.
So NJs health insurance is expensive because we’re “helping illegals”? Please elaborate. You can just state something that isn’t true and not expect to be challenged. What do you think this is, Fox News?
“Illegals” can’t get health insurance. They can’t even pay for it on the open market (that little nonsensical chestnut was the one of the only rules the GOP demanded in the ACA). And they can’t get Medicaid either. Those two sentences are facts. I suggest challenging yourself with a little research as it why ALL (not just NJ) insurance is expensive. Beware though, you are not going to like what you find.
The only cost of living affected by the mayor and council are property taxes. Have yours increased dramatically under this admin? If they haven’t, then they haven’t taken anything “from your pocket”. Mine have not. In fact, the largest property taxes increase I’ve had in the last 20 years came during the Walsifer admin. But I don’t hold Mr Walsifer completely to blame (only partially) because he was paying the overdue bill from the soul crushing Doherty hangover.
Of course the salaries listed are gross not net. When a one term BA who does (Deleted by Editor.) job titles and hire assistants for FT employees there is a HUGE problem. His salary alone is disgraceful. Focus on some of the new hire dates and their salaries/ hourly wages
There are at least two Beach Directors/Assistants missing from this list. There are usually 3 and only 1 is listed. Also, what is a Beach Administrator and what do they do?
She works in the front office. If you have questions regarding peoples titles list on payroll that needs to be addressed with the administration. Employees do not make up their own titles
Correct they likely use that title to be able to pay them from the Beach Utility…follow the money people. How can one request a forensic audit of the town. Ken Pringle now is your time to shine again!
A quick google search of the name of the woman who was paid $100 per hour revealed a possibility. There is a woman w the same name who is a consultant on energy policy. Towns all across the country often use consultants for various things. $100 per hour is actually getting off cheap. Is it worth the money? No idea. If the town learns how to save on energy costs, it probably is.
But everyone is right, if the mayor and council (now evenly split among dems and gops) would just tell us, hey, we hired this consulting firm to help lower costs etc etc. then maybe we wouldn’t be so angry about it. It is a possibility that it was mentioned at a council meeting at one point but I wouldn’t remember.
If she is a consultant why are the employees being told she is a PT payroll assistant and assistant to the Mayor. If she was a consultant she wouldn’t be on payroll….it would be a purchase order.
This town is currently run by a Republican majority. Every post seems to forget that. Is the mayor useless? Yes. But the decision to hire someone at $100 per hour has to be a majority vote. Something the dems literally cannot do.
Want to be mad? Be mad. Just maybe do a little thinking on who you should be mad at.
Belmar’s “Small Municipality Form” of government is not a strong mayor form of government. The mayor’s vote at Council meetings does not have any greater effect than that of any other member of the Council. He has no power to veto an ordinance or resolution lawfully adopted by the other Council members.
That’s the whole point! This mayor and BA do what they want only to benefit themselves. They don’t communicate with ANYONE! A vote by the council? Laughable. They are in the dark just like everyone else. Ask them.
You are 1000% WRONG….majority just started in January 2026….secondly the mayor and BA do NOT communicate with council members….clearly you didn’t watch or attend the 4/28 meeting.
So explain the 3 years of this administration when dems were the majority
Oh trust me I’m listening…and your damn right I’m angry! Clearly you are employed or a tax payer….if you were YOU should be angry as well! And I was responding to the person who stated republicans were the majority…open your EYES &
The assumes the mayor and BA even brought this up to council. In strong mayor for part time employees are hired by Mayor and BA without consulting council.
You’re all looking in the wrong direction. Sure, these ***** are milking the system. However, the main issue is whoever you “vote” for or against now is just as big a **** as whomsoever you “vote” for or against. So it comes down to DON’T VOTE!!!, at least you won’t be getting down in the mud with these ********** *********.
Vote
Vote

And tell your friends to vote
Tell your neighbor to vote
Drive your senior Mother to vote

Not sure why my last comment was not posted….but follow the money. Bring Ken Pringle to all of this and a forensic audit of the Boro. (Deleted by Editor.)

Get used to it. Living in NJ is very expensive. Employees will pay more for less concerning health insurance. Need to help illegals.
So NJs health insurance is expensive because we’re “helping illegals”? Please elaborate. You can just state something that isn’t true and not expect to be challenged. What do you think this is, Fox News?

I wish the Mayor and Kevin Kane were leaving earlier than the end of the year
How much more can they take from our pocket?
It’s getting unaffordable to live here, we need change

Clearly missing the point
Hey Duh, obviously it’s gross salary pay not net, that’s not what I was getting at try to think outside the box
I don’t need to think outside the box…the box is crystal clear! Again missing the point
What are you saving?
There are at least two Beach Directors/Assistants missing from this list. There are usually 3 and only 1 is listed. Also, what is a Beach Administrator and what do they do?
I stopped counting the number of “Executive Sessions” at M&C meetings
Good point LHD. Who is Nicole Lacour, beach administrator, making $42,291.05?
I’ve worked gates for years and never heard of her??
She works in the front office. If you have questions regarding peoples titles list on payroll that needs to be addressed with the administration. Employees do not make up their own titles

Why is the mayors # adjusted?
I think we should come in as angry as the mayor was last meeting. He set an example on how to behave to get what you want.
Was the $100 an hour job advertised? Who hired this person. For what?
Belmar taxpayers can’t ‘follow the money’ because the last bill list was March 10th-
https://www.belmar.com/government/meeting-documents-2/mayor-council-meeting/2026-mayor-council-meeting-documents/2026-bill-lists-mayor-council

This is a strong Mayor form of government in Belmar. Everything they voted against is overruled by the Mayor at his will.

Be mad at the Mayor and Kevin Kane and Vin Gopal for suggesting these Dems

The majority doesn’t matter
The Mayor overrules the majority
