  1. He is a dockbuilder and former marine. Like many of us He fought for the flag and knows the protocol for flying it. He also recognizes evil when He sees it. LET’S BLAME IT ON GEORGE!!

  2. Did he fight for the flag? I don’t know any other service member who talks about himself the way this ***-*** does. When did he serve? Better yet, what was his discharge? Does anyone actually know?

  3. I don’t know anything about McEvoy. I don’t know if he served in the Marines, was honorably, dishonorably, medically or psychologically discharged. His loyalty to the flag is honorable. This information is easily obtainable. I can only imagine what he thinks about protesters stomping and burning our flag. He makes mention of combat, bodies, and so forth. I know many Marines that are true heroes and never talk about things like that. Especially in that type of forum.
Also, at the end he mentioned that he doesn’t like talking to people at the local bars about politics but then at the end he invited anyone to meet him at the pub down the street to come talk to him? ********* ** *** *****. Semper Fi.

  4. Editor. You blanked out Semper Fi!
Now that is dishonorable to any Marine.
Maybe you just don’t know what it means. Google it!

  5. I know what it means and would never blank it out.
It was misspelled in an unusual way and I didn’t know what the comment was trying to say.
Now I know it was just a typo.

  6. Does anyone know if Djais will continue to be permitted to expand their occupancy in the outdoor parking lot space with tent and tables? I believe that was a special Covid accommodation which should no longer be in place?

  7. To #1, #3, and #4;

I owe you a drink when I see you all. Don’t hesitate to introduce yourselves as I already consider you friends and would love to talk local politics with you even at the bar. 😉

    Thank you! Joe

  8. Thank you Joe. You and Kyle Rittenhouse are my heroes. Thank you for your service to this country and town. Some of us really do appreciate it.

  9. Joe, thank you for your service. Both Fran’s family and mine are decades long military, and we love and thank you for your passion and truth telling.

  10. Can anyone address why D’jais is having a delayed opening this season? They usually open the first Sunday in May, but there is word they aren’t opening till after Mother’s Day. Did they get in trouble and were forced to open later?

  11. Mr McEvoy- Agree with everything you said except for one. The Belmar Dems didn’t violate your constitutional right to free speech. Only the government can do that. While it is unfortunate (and kinda cowardly)that they censor what you have to say, it isn’t technically a first amendment issue. It’s like Walmart refusing to sell a book or movie they find offensive. Or a baker not wanting to bake a cake for a gay couple. Private entities have the right to refuse service and restrict speech. No shirt, no shoes, no dice (for example). The Belmar Dem FB is most likely run by individuals and therefore, like this blog, can decide who to allow, and who not to allow, a post (not that this blog has ever done that, but they could). If you were ever banned from speaking at a council meeting, now that is a violation of your first amendment rights. There are limits of course. Speech that can cause physical harm for instance (can’t yell fire! in a crowded movie theater)
It’s a pretty common misconception but it’s an important distinction. When the state itself starts to restrict speech, THAT is the road to fascism. But when a FB group does it, that’s just annoying and lame.
Anyway, speaking truth to power, like you did, is always a good thing. Thank you.

  12. #27 Jim Bean will never be mayor. His letter was fantastic? Nah, it was a feeble attempt to bash our mayor and council.

  13. #26
Private individuals and the platform itself such as this blog can censor you, however government actors- and the Belmar Democrats although not a governing organization, are a government organization- cannot generally censor you based on the content of your communication unless it consists of incitement, hate speech, or terroristic threats and such. If their account page is determined to be official and congruent to the national Democrat Party, then they should not exclude anyone for having differing viewpoints on a platform such as Facebook. The US Supreme Court ruled on this recently.

  14. Mr McEvoy- That is true. Trump had to reinstate all the Twitter users he censored from his own account when his account became the official presidential account. My guess is the Belmar Dems FB account is not an official gov’t sanctioned page. Probably run out of someone’s living room for info dissemination. Matt used to remove posts that he didn’t like all the time. But if they are an official gov’t sanctioned page, then yes they can’t sensor you unless it violates standards.

Agree on Mark Levis- He is a stand up guy and an hard working father who cares about Belmar and has no conflicts of interest. Deserves to serve on council

  15. #36 That is the gospel truth. It’s a nasty business this Belmar political game. It’s a popularity contest for the morally and ethically bankrupt.

  16. #41 please grow up and stop worshiping your insignificant political ‘team’. It’s pointless and it’s bad for Belmar. It’s that kind of political tribalism that causes the problems we all have to deal with. George Washington literally warned about it in his farewell address back in 1796. The people you listen to, that help foster this hatred for democrats (or if you’re a democrat, for republicans), are doing so for profit. Certain news outlets, social media whores, and political pundits all profit from national discord. And you, like millions of other Americans, are falling for it. All of it has us distracted by fighting over fake (yes fake) differences, while the political class (yes, both sides) consolidates power.
Let’s remove the meaningless political label and vote for a person that is honest, trust worthy, and has the town’s best interest at heart. Please

  17. #43 – If our local democratic candidates are willing to distance themselves of the platform and ideology of the party they have identified with (and will take campaign funding from), then I would be more than willing to vote for them.

  18. We need partyless local elections. Something I have talked about more than a few times with Mr. Levis. Take national politics out of local elections where they have no bearing.

  19. #46 Amen. It will create an atmosphere of free flowing ideas. The candidates will be chosen based on their intelligence and abilities, not on the meaningless little letter next to their names. It’s unpopular because some folks are lazy and just pull the lever for the R or the D based on years of complacency and ignorance. It’s just easier to go along with what the talking head on the TV tells you to do.

  20. Where have you people been? Obviously not Belmar. The Independent Vote decides Belmar Elections. Research, then open your mouths about party affiliations and you can justly remove your feet.

  21. Guaranteed USA Freedom of Speech is on the butcher block as we all heard this weekend.
Disinformation Ministry right out of 1984.

  22. #49 BTW when I wrote “…if you think otherwise, then you’re in a coma..” I don’t mean you. You are an eye wide open type. That is addressed to other readers who may believe that their team is the best team.

  23. #52- You referring to Boston case? The SCOTUS ruled (unanimously, I might add) that it was unconstitutional to not allow the Christian flag to be flown outside the public building for an event hosted by the organization. So the first amendment is alive and well.
Again, for those confused by this…companies like Facebook, Twitter, Wallmart, Ruth’s Chris, McDonalds, google, etc are not held to first amendment standards. They can refuse service, remove posts, not let you in without a shirt, or whatever they want (as long as they don’t violate equal opportunity laws). So no, Facebook taking down your rant about vaccines is NOT a violation of your rights. It’s a private company enjoying capitalism and the free enterprise system. Right wing news outlets enjoy trying to confuse folks about this issue. It helps with ratings.

I understood you were making a generalization there. LOL

SO MUCH information about this and I just learned it this past winter and was shocked, as the mainstream media never mentions it. Google “population will actually begin to decline rapidly” and read some of the resulting articles or simply the taglines and you’ll be shocked as I too was recently.
