Comments

  1. Remove the banners attached to the chain link fence @ 9th Ave & Main St … they block the view of the reinforced concrete 1st story with timber framing above … they also destabilize the fence w/ wind conditions

  2. “These unlawful acts of vandalism are inexcusable.”
    ———————————-
Yeah, what he said. I only support lawful acts of vandalism myself.

  3. Maybe the Mermaid saw something? After all, she’s facing traffic instead of pedestrians in Pyanoe Plaza that could view her. On second thought, there’ll be plenty of folks stuck in traffic to notice her once all the developers finish their gargantuan “blood money” projects.
Paint on glass and a $20 sign and you’d think with all the news coverage and outrage that there was a shooting in Belmar. 😉

  4. I’m convinced the editor of this blog is completely biased. I’ve sent many comments in that weren’t published. But yet the editor will publish a 10 page dissertation by McEvoy and his negative BS. That guy hasn’t been on this earth long enough to do half the things he says he’s done.

    (Some content removed by Editor.)

  5. #7 there is an equal amount of pro Jerry and pro Walsifer comments on this blog. In addition, the posts by the editor are either press releases, letters to the editor, or news articles about Belmar. Every single comment associated with the posts is opinion. Nothing more. Editor has said many many times that she won’t allow unverifiable accusations.
You are under no obligation to read or respond to this blog. In addition, you can start your own blog. You don’t like the food at a restaurant, don’t eat there.

Just a guess, but I think she prefers folks that form a constructive argument and that she’s just sick of personal attacks and unsubstantiated rumors whose answers have already been given here repeatedly. A constructive argument mind you that is formed from not just their own narrowminded personal and political agenda, but from knowledge gathered by talking daily to Democrats, Republicans, wealthy, middle-class, and even the homeless, and the kids in Belmar, but especially from the folks who work within The Borough of Belmar and the various duty experts in town from all walks of life that know much more than both of us combined.
I’m just the messenger Kid, and every time you attack me personally, you’re alienating a lot of powerful people who already know who you are.
I’ve done a lot of things you’ll never aspire to do and things you’ll never want to experience such as being homeless and overcoming mental illness.
We’re all on our own journey. Maybe you should realize that and continue on yours and not get sidetracked with anonymous personal attacks. Then one day, you as well can feel like you’ve accomplished something and not have to bring others down to your level through thoughtless and weak character attacks to feel accomplished.
Start with a writing course; It’s a great way to learn how to express yourself and possibly get over your jealousy towards others.
    Just sayin’… 😉

  7. 8. My comments aren’t necessarily about Buccafusco or Walsifer. But you wouldn’t know because they never get published. They are rebuttals to the inaccuracies spewed out in length by McEvoy. The editor allows him to say anything, at length, and when someone disputes his BS it doesn’t get published. (Sentence removed by Editor.) Let the truth come out. You’re obviously a Jerry fan because you refer to him by his first name and Walsifer by his last. I’m sorry

  8. The editor on this blog does a great job, the blog has taken on a life of its own at times and I am sure it is a lot more work than we all realize. The editor even takes the time to email the person when she isn’t publishing their comment or suggests an omission of a word/sentence. And a fair amount of my comments are not posted but it’s not my blog. I am grateful that the Editor is so committed to the blog and the borough residents that she attends and video tapes all meetings. This allows me to watch a lot of the meetings I cannot make in person, which has allowed me to be informed and judge for myself. So thank you to the editor for your dedication to this Blog and to Belmar over all.

As for Mr. McEvoy, your posts are 95% about yourself and your resume repeating it over and over and over again. I appreciate your service to this country and that is very honorable, however, it doesn’t give you a pass to behave however you want whether it be on this blog, meetings or in public. And last I checked you weren’t running for mayor or council so I am not sure why you need to keep replying to blog comments with your full cv and life story, it’s not a job posting. And last I checked no one asked.

  9. #10 haha. It’s an interesting conspiracy theory, but unfortunately I only used the name Jerry and Walsifer because I don’t know how to spell Jerry’s last name. And even if I did support one candidate over the other, what does that have to do with anything. The admin has the right to allow or censor anything she wants. It is, after all, still a free country. Like I said, start your own blog. No one is making up their minds on who to vote for based on the comments on this blog. I would bet a large sum on that.

  10. #11

First of all, it’s “Joe”. Mr. McEvoy is dying in a hospital bed in Ocean County, and I’m no one special compared to the folks I served with and especially the ones who trained me. Some of those men and women are legends in the military community.
If you knew me outside of council meetings in “public” as you say, you’d know I’m a humble gentleman. Hell, I was even a gentleman at council meetings in the beginning and was the only person to ever refer to our mayor as “your honor” until I figured out what he was about, and I endorsed him four years ago. You see now how I’m actually ignorant in a sense?!? A true “Below-Average Joe” when it comes to trusting the wrong leadership.

You’re probably perfect though as you seem to be able to judge peoples’ character anonymously so well? Who am I to question your innate abilities to reason on folks’ personal lives as the others here do? Ones that I patiently take the valuable time to respond to. I guess I should run for office because then in your eternally wise judgement my efforts would somehow suddenly be justified in defending myself against the many anonymous “character assassinators” like yourself that call me out regularly?

I keep repeating it because they keep questioning it. Maybe someday, you’ll chastise them, and then I can give it a rest, but I can tell you won’t because your party affiliation only makes you try to scold me into silence. That only makes me more annoying and relentless towards my detractors like yourself. Keep it up; I’m only here for a couple more days and then I’m free from having to comment to the local “Judges of Character”.

I conduct myself as I see fit and the Editor allows on this blog. As far as the council meetings and in person, I’m my own person there as well; An Independent voter and an independent thinker. Thanks for making it personal with me anonymously though. It reveals your lack of courage. I’m so glad you appreciate my service and support Marines when it suits your needs.

P.S.- “Once a Marine; Always a Marine”. I’m still serving my community, not myself like many in town that have been sidetracked by greed and ego; That’s why I’m right here speaking truth to power. Breaking news: You don’t need a uniform, title, or a nameplate in front of you on a dais to serve.

  11. #11. Well said. This blog has got to be time consuming for the administrator. Reading through all the comments and maintaining the page. Even When Dave ran the blog, he had to moderate the discourse at times.
It’s Election Day. The most important job we have as citizens of this great country is to vote.

  12. #14 Yes Voting is extremely important.

And on that note for those that dont vote they should not complain. This is your day to make your opinion matter.

  13. Chief Scott is the Playa bowl van at 8th and Ocean immune from the 15 minute, street cleaning laws? Been there for months.

  14. This blog and the Belmar Residents Facebook page which were both supposedly founded as “unbiased forums” are clearly anything but that. Mr. McEvoy is allowed to spew his long winded nonsense, personal attacks and vile language at length with no redactions in both places. He has nothing but hate in his heart and any opposing voices on this blog are censored. What a load of BS.

  15. #19 what are you talking about? First of all, I don’t agree. Go back and read comments about the politics of this town. It’s even or slightly weighted to the right. And even if it wasn’t- this is an opinion blog. You get that? Opinion. It’s not the news. Same thing w ‘Belmar’ FB pages. They ARE NOT official in any sense of the word. Stop trying to pretend that any of this matters. This Blog was, and continues to be, right leaning. If the same commenter posts 14 comments about a single news story, that’s not bias. Blogs and social media sites are a collection of individual opinions started by individuals unrelated to official government entities. Why is it so hard for certain people to understand that? On top of that, your complaint of bias is posted for all to see. If it was really biased, your comment would have been censored.
