  1. First- Jerry is a very nice person. There is a concerted effort by some republicans in town to attempt to paint him as an angry man with a short fuse. I would bet a year’s salary that those attempting this portrayal have never met Jerry.

Second- Councilman Carvelli’s letter is well intentioned. However, referring to the board as ‘bi-partisan’ is a tad disingenuous. Yes, Mr Brennan is a democrat but he is also, in my opinion, a go along get along kind of guy. Not what I would call a true dissenting voice.
Also, the feud with the BFA was a two way street. The town officials are just as ******. And pointing out that we shouldn’t provide tax dollars to an entity that refused to disclose certain information is an accusation that also fits the current BFA site proposal. In other words, the pot is calling the kettle black.

    (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

  2. 1- have you seen Jerry’s behavior at council meetings? I don’t think he’s being painted as anything. He is what he is.

  3. Just because Tom Brennon votes yes to things doesn’t mean he’s a go along get along kinda guy. I’ve seen him vote differently than the others. Perhaps when he votes the same he believes it’s best for Belmar. I’ve also seen the others vote out of step with what you call the go along. This constant call for dissent does no one any good. And it doesn’t even make sense. Perhaps what you see as necessary “dissent” is not what another believes is the right way to vote.

  4. #3 if I was judged by the way I spoke at council meetings when Matt was mayor, I too would be considered ‘mean’. That goes for a lot of us. The element. I was perceived as mean by Matt supporters. I’m not mean. I was fed up with the former administration, and I would let them know. That’s what Jerry is doing. That is why he’ll get my vote. It’s also why Katrina will also get my vote. The Matt supporters said that exact same thing about her that you’re saying about Jerry. They were wrong about her, and you’re wrong about Jerry. Partisan politics often blinds us to the truth. Vote person over party.

#4 perhaps. But referring to the current make up of the council as bipartisan is inaccurate in my opinion. Honest dissent is always good. Even if just to bring in a different point of view.
