Belmar Council Meeting of February 16, 2021

Comments

  1. Did anyone at that Council Meeting “party of 7” ever consider that there would be blood on the hands of the person(s) who chose to ignore the Governor EOs and exposed our children to closed quarters during summer storms? Murphys Executive Order was extended today for an additional 30 days. Use Common Sense and don’t blame Belmar for Bradley’s dangerous choices exposing children. What will happen when there are children who, in a camp lottery for example, don’t get one of the 25 slots? Protect your children, take them to the beach and bring them home if there’s a storm just like you used to do.

  2. The aggressive person was probably some rabid Democrat who hates Republicans and just wants to offload her children because they are home too much. I am assuming a lot, but come on, man…grow up. Money does not buy everything.

  3. #6 I could not agree more, and the same group of people will be the same group trying to figure out a way to sue the Borough of Belmar if their child/them through their child contracts COVID-19 at one of these recreational activities.

We all can agree this has been a difficult year, and although I do think sports and activities are important to children, and feel bad that they have to miss out on things. Safety, health and the community well being can not be over looked.

Look how many people lost jobs, had to close businesses down, are only able to operate minimally. Hopefully the vaccine will help bring some things back but those people have to be a bit more reasonable.

Maybe they should be willing to post un-refunded deposits—– put their money where their mouths are. If they would be willing and have the extra money to gamble on what the next three or four months or the pandemic will bring and not worry about refunds for deposits on enrollment fees. Why should the Borough i.e. tax payers have to foot the bill for the gamble of what may or may not be?????Maybe these parents should start their own group activities for their children, and take them to public places and put together basketball games, etc., if you can circulate a petition would it not be more positive to circulate a sign up sheet—-if only people would use their energy and efforts to be part of a solution and positive versus part of the problem.

  4. #7 – kind of hard to organize youth sports when your at the mercy of the town letting you use its fields/courts. Do you know any private residences that have baseball or soccer fields in their backyards in town? And anything organized at Dempsey park will get broken up. Heck – can’t even play pick up volleyball on the beach.

  5. Hmmm, private, exclusivity is what echoes in the background here. Don’t you get it there will only be a small number of open slots for camp children per EO? You with the “Voice” select the golden child who wins that lottery. Very harmful to ignore the State Government these days. Come on man, open your eyes!
