  1. Pat Wann’s letter is spot on with this administrations lack of getting anything accomplished. Tom Brennan’s letter is spot on endorsing Caitlin Donovan.
Regarding the bathroom debacle at 6th Avenue, I also heard a rumor that they are going to demolish the 3rd Avenue bathroom and not replace that. So no bathrooms from the bridge to 8th Avenue!
    Can anyone confirm this?

    1. I respect Pat Wann, and appreciate all she did when she was on council. I agree with much of what she said. HOWEVER, the Republican candidate has not demonstrated by his behavior at a few meetings that he can work well with others. A total embarrassment to the Belmar Republican Party. Caitlin, on the other hand, is a leader, as demonstrated by her actions. She also seems to be working well with the lone Republican on the Council.

  2. I agree that whatever Mr Brennan says, do the opposite. But I’m making an exception in this case. I wish he wouldn’t write letters to the coast star. It’s bad for Donovan.
As far as Mrs Wann is concerned. She definitely has some valid points. However, a significant amount of her complaints (pavilion, water safety building, 6th Ave bathroom, water tower painted, NJ transit grant, marina infrastructure fuel docks, etc etc) ALL could have been taking care of during the LAST administration. An administration that was in power for 4 years, not 10 months. She leaves out that part. Plus the last admin raised taxes 23% in their first ten months. Another fact omitted.
It is true that this mayor is not good at dealing with his constituents while on the dais. But Mrs Wann lays out a laundry list of issues that have been issues for a lot longer than 10 months. And let’s not forget that the last admin purchased an over priced, contaminated property from a staff member’s family. Not exactly above board.
The fact is that Donovan is a superior choice. You can do what Mrs Wann is asking you to do, pretend that all those issues listed didn’t exist during the last admin. You can ignore basic facts and vote for a guy who’s been in town for about 10 minutes. Or you can vote for the candidate that will be a positive change for Belmar. A candidate who will raise the bar on every person on the dais.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to search the archives for a letter from Mrs Wann, written during the Walsifer administration, complaining about all those same issues. Something tells me I won’t find it.

  3. Um has anyone read DiSomma’s bio in Tap Into? Or seen his campaign FB page? I’m a little concerned about the Grand Ol’ Party if this is who they picked to represent them. I can’t imagine he actually believes the things he is saying.
I recommend better vetting next time around. There are so many great republican candidates in Belmar. Mrs Renner, Mr Bean, Mr Seebeck, Mr Merkler, etc. How on earth did they wind up with this guy?
