  1. Yup. I was walking the boards this morning and asked some of the DPW men putting bathrooms in the south end (D’jais area) and they confirmed no bathrooms on north end, 3rd or 6th.
This would not have happened under the Walsifer administration. He told the DEP more than once that he’s keeping things the way they always were.
    This crew has no b@#$!

    1. So let me get this straight, you would rather a mayor that breaks the rules and goes against DEP?

      1. Paying the DEP fines for non compliance is probably cheaper in the near term than the price for bathrooms being constructed at the pavilion right now.

        1. Ok so now I get it: a *******, rule breaking mayor is what you want. Now it makes sense why you would want the old regime back. I will prepare myself for your nonsensical reply.

          (Asterisks are mine, Editor.)

          1. I want a mayor with ****. If you remember Jerry said there was no hope in fighting Verizon. Glad Caitlin is proving him wrong and had the guts to stand up and fight. Now Jerry rolls over to DEP. I want a Mayor that fights for common sense and doesn’t just comply because someone told him it was that way. Wheel the bathrooms back up there.

        1. It’s the state government, not federal. And if you really want to stick it to them, have no bathrooms at all, do not charge people to get on the beach, and have no lifeguards on duty. Let’s see if all the government haters on this blog are really ready to walk the walk.

  2. Bathrooms have been in those locations for 80 years. I would rather a mayor with common sense who stands up for the citizens and tourists than a mayor who cow downs to nonsensical buracratic BS

    1. I’m surprised by how many people would rather Belmar break the rules and not listen to DEP, be paying the state fines for breaking said rules. All so you do not have to walk more than 2 blocks to the next bathroom. It sure is a crazy world we are in now.

      1. You want “crazy” – There are thousands of people breaking the rules at the southern boarder each day and entering US illegally and nobody is doing a darn thing about it. I would argue installing a few bathrooms on the beach against the unreasonable requests of DEP is not all that crazy.

        1. Go and go in the ocean. I don’t think there are any DEP rules against that. Although I’m sure under this regulating, economy crushing WH they are working on it.

          1. The US economy is actually very strong. It has grown more than expected. Unemployment rates are down to pre pandemic levels. And wages have increased much higher than expected and have gone up significantly compared to pre pandemic levels. Yes, inflation is high, but that is a result of a global economic shut down and it has been dropping steadily since its peak in mid 2022, largely due to the fed reserves rate hikes. If you’re old enough to recall, that is the exact method the Reagan admin used to get control of the massive inflation they were dealing with.

        2. And there it is, we went from the bathrooms on the Belmar boardwalk to the Immigrants crossing the border. And to think that this post was about Chris Smith’s Legislation on 5G towers. Jesus this is a messy site filled with soapbox riders. Till next time……

(Yes, comments can go off topic. It is allowed here, Editor.)

          1. Hahaha. So true. I’m still trying to connect the dots of a small, north eastern seaside town following the rules of the state DEP, and the southern border crisis. Some folks will twist themselves into pretzels to try and find correlations.
We almost a had a bipartisan immigration deal a few months ago. It’s a shame it didn’t pass….

    2. “Bathrooms have been at those locations for 80 years”. You may want to pick up one of those Belmar History books. Or maybe talk to someone who’s lived in town for more than 10 minutes.
The bathrooms-every-other-block look hasn’t been around all that long. And why anyone would need that many bathrooms is beyond me. Go at home before you head out on your stroll. If you’re a tourist, so you have to walk a little further. Believe me most people could use the exercise.
