Put yourself in my shoes.. I fell Friday night, crawled on knees and elbows to contact BHA superintendent, no answer. Called Belmar Police dispatch. They sent 3 officers over. Could not get in the building. I waited 10 to 15 minutes. clinging to my desk for support.. called BPD again..
was told no response from superintendent or exec director.
Gave them phone number of tenant to buzz in police.
3 officers got me up. I have bilateral hip and knee replacements and ankle fusions. Thank you, BPD officers.
Seems to me there is a QUESTION of who is responsible and accountable to get first responders in the building? When were the fobs given to BPD? Before or after I fell? Hopefully
this never happens to any tenant.
That does seem odd. I assume that happens from time to time at that building. There is no way for police or firefighters, what if there’s a fire, to get in the building?
I hope you lodged a formal complaint with the BHA and the town council and your state representative. While I love this blog, only complaining about it on here won’t accomplish much.
I look forward to this coming up at the next council meeting.
Bringing this up on The Blog is to make readers aware of what is happening here. It is the first step of many taken. I
have done so much for the tenants and BHA..
Yes, understood. I applaud it.
I’m looking forward to the BHA and council meeting where this is aired and someone needs to answer for it. It’s unacceptable.
ABSOLUTELY.. Knox Box can be purchased from Goodwill Hose and Fire Co. 7th Ave. Belmar.
Readers…For information google Knox Box ..what can be stored, who installs it, where.. etc..
Every police car has a fob key to get into the building.
The problem is they do not have a master key to get into
tenants’ apartments. Only superintendent has a master key.
That is crazy! There should be a lock box outside the business office with a master key. The police can access it with a code number. Doesn’t this management have a plan for emergency situations? Remember 2023 when we had 35 hour power outage many tenants were stranded in the lobby. Why wasn’t BPD contacted? Let’s make sure this management has an emergency plan NOW! Don’t wait until the next BHA meeting. Hold them responsible and accountable.
Boy I sure hope someone from the BHA reads this blog. Otherwise it’s just a group of people complaining in an echo chamber. Perhaps when “bruised”, the original poster, files a complain about the incident to the BHA and to the town council (still haven’t heard that happen), something like a master key or a Knox box will happen.
