Off topic. As a young senior and lifelong Belmar resident I would like to make a complaint. First off I love Belmar. Over the weekend I walked around Lake Como. The Spring Lake side and Lake Como side are beautifully maintained. As you walk east by B st. (Belmar border) the weeds are completely overgrown, garbage strewn about, no access to fish or sit on a bench and enjoy the lake view.
This is exactly the same all around Silver Lake in Belmar. Overgrown high weeds all the way around creating a haven for rodents and insects. When I was young there was rip rap concrete and blocks allowing access to the lake whether to fish, ice skate, whatever.
I’ve been told this was allowed to because it would limit geese access but that is clearly not the case.
It may be out of season but I didn’t see one goose around Lake Como. Only mallards and butterfly gardens.
Mayor Buccafusco, Council Members, DPW, we are Belmar and we can do better. Please clean these messes up!!
As a senior I have no other media outlets to discuss matters. My friends tell me that the mayor and council members read this blog. Ms. Donovan has been outspoken about geese and other issues at Silver Lake. I would at least thought I would see a comment from her. My friends also tell me this administration and BA never respond to anyone about anything! Sad. Something I’ll remember on Election Day.
You can send letters to any local newspaper you wish. You can also contact News 12, they may want to run with a public interest story like this. Thinking this blog is your only media outlet is not at all true. Heck, you can go to a council meeting and speak directly to the people with whom you want to communicate.
I highly doubt the mayor and council members read this blog. But, luckily for you, you have several other options.
