  1. The town skirted its affordable housing obligations for decades, much like Wall Township and other elitist NIMBY communities who are now being made to pay the piper. But hey, could have been worse! If Walsifer was still in office, you bet there would be a 6-story building going up, since that admin approved the height increase in the first place. Hope the Beach Haus enjoys their rooftop sunset views while they can. Will all be gone before we know it, along with the last vestiges of the old Belmar.

    1. Correct.
Kick the can down the road enough, you eventually run out of road.

In other news, we have a president that is angry because museums inform folks that slavery was bad.

      We are lost

    2. It’s the cost we ALL pay (unless you’re the recipient of welfare AKA Affordable housing) to make housing affordable. Affordable for WHO? All housing should be affordable but the builders and attorneys get richer thatnks to the liberals running (I mean ruining) this State of California East.

      1. Your statement doesn’t make logical sense. How are the “builders and attorneys getting richer thanks to liberals”? Please explain that if you would. Builders get rich from a lack of oversight. A lack of oversight is the domain of the Republican Party. But, I’m happy to hear your explanation.

Also, affordable housing isn’t “welfare”. Affordable housing is based on market value and is only affordable (and only allowable) to folks with decent jobs. Welfare is when folks are too poor to survive. It’s a social safety net. After all, a society is only as good as its poorest citizens.
However, welfare can also be corporate. For instance, oil companies enjoy tax payer subsidies in the billions. There is also societal welfare. That’s when folks live off mommy and daddy well into their own adulthood. Or they get hundreds of millions in gifts and then squander it on ego driven opulence. Then they file for bankruptcy protection. Five times. Then they become president.

      2. Affordable housing isn’t welfare. Affordable housing, in this case, isn’t “the projects”.
Your comment that all housing should be affordable is a call for socialism. The only way all housing would be affordable is to have the government step in and make it so.
All housing should be affordable is literally the campaign platform for NYC socialist mayoral candidate, Mamdani.
Your assertion that housing is expensive because of attorneys and developers is accurate. But your assertion that it’s is somehow the “liberals” fault is, well, insane. Democrats have been fighting for affordable housing since the invention of houses. Republicans, for the most part, allow developers to do what ever they want. And they embolden attorneys to represent those developers.
Next time you’re watching Fox News (something tells me you’re a fan), count how many commercials are for ambulance chasing attorneys. I would say it represents about 30-40% of their ad buys. That tells you all you need to know.

    1. Yes! Screw the planet! It’s a great idea to take out your misplaced anger on the earth.
Just be thankful we don’t live on top of oil reserves. After all, the angry mob loves to drill but please don’t do it anywhere near where they live.

  2. I enjoyed the Mayors speech on the affordable housing blunder in this state but he has aligned himself with the political party that has created and fueled the affordable housing problem. At least Chris Christie fought hard against COAH and affordable housing being shoved down communities throats during his administration. This affordable housing issue and property taxes are the only important issues as far as i am concerned in this election!

  3. Some impressive grandstanding from Mr Deblasio. I guess he forgot that he voted for the hight increase before?
Let me guess, he’s running for office.
What is it about running for office in this town that makes folks think we all have no memory?
