  1. I wonder if they are going to discuss the $300,000 of taxpayer money that was spent on the supposed “fully donated” piano in Pyanoe Plaza that isn’t even finished yet.

    1. Maybe someone should OPRA all the costs associated with this piano to see how much was spent by this administration. They are very generous to themselves with other people’s money

      1. OPRAing the costs is something you can do yourself. You have time to complain, but no time to request some records?
The piano was conceived of in August 2022. At that time Mr Walsifer was mayor and the council was majority republican. Just sayin’
As for the $300,000 of tax payer money for the “fully donated” piano. The piano cost around $50,000, so you may want to double check your figures.

  2. It’s about time they are recognizing Chief Scott for her award. Lake Como already did at their last meeting and the Belmar administration has known about it since October.

  3. Why is the tree lighting on a school night?? It was always on a Friday prior to this administration. It has always been a fun family outing and parents did not have to worry about their kids getting their homework done and getting to bed on time for school the next morning. (Deleted by Editor.)

(Asterisks in name are mine, Editor.)

    1. It’s at 6pm. I’m sure you can figure it out.
How about embracing the fact that we even have this wonderful small town event.

My guess is you’d complain no matter what night it was held.

  4. No, actually I wouldn’t complain if it was on Friday night-like it always was in the past. Obviously, I have embraced the fact that we have this event, otherwise I wouldn’t be worried about my kids’ homework or bedtime, nor would numerous other parents who have mentioned this during conversations we’ve had outside the school.

My guess is that you don’t have young kids.

    1. I don’t know how to break this to you, but it was in a Thursday last year too (Dec 5th 2024). I’m not sure if A) you don’t remember that, B) you didn’t live in town yet, or C) you complained last year too but wanted to keep it fresh. In any event, 6p is still pretty early.
No I don’t have young kids. I have three children who are now adults. All three went to BES from pre-k on. I’ve been to more of those tree lighting ceremonies than I can count. And school plays and concerts and lip sync and art shows and parent teacher conferences and all manner of school related things. Almost none of which were on a Friday night.
My point is, stop complaining and work it out.
“Small” children aren’t taking calculus and, from my memory, their homework doesn’t take long to complete. Tree lighting is at 6p so you could easily be home by 7p, 8p at the very latest.
Bottom line, stop complaining and try to enjoy. Believe me, time flies, so enjoy these moments and save the complaining for actual problems.
