    1. I’m not sure if that is a serious question, but here goes:
Researchers. Smart people who dedicate their lives to research and exploration. They examine bats in the wild and bats in captivity. We know all kinds of things about all manner of creatures. Yes, even what they eat and how much they eat.
Scientific research and intellectual curiosity used to be embraced and well funded. Knowledge is not only power, but vital to our survival.

We are now enduring (temporarily thank goodness) a group of nuts who are fearful of, and hostile towards, science, knowledge, and exploration.

  1. Anyone read former mayor, current *******, Matt Doherty’s tap into article about the 7th Ave project?

I honestly think that there is no ****** adult, certainly in Belmar, but perhaps on planet earth. The guy is haphazardly throwing stones while residing in the world’s most fragile glass house. Does he really think that we forget the endless parade of self serving **** that we had to endure (and fight) through his entire tenure? Stuff that we are still literally paying for.

Owning a free online news pamphlet still required some journalistic integrity.

  2. So what I gathered from the meeting is that our two new council members are conflicted out of voting or participating in the pending 4th and Ocean development because they accepted a $500 campaign contribution from the proposed developer. Just want to make sure i heard that correctly. Thats a rough start for them!

    1. In 2004, not long after we adopted the Seaport Redevelopment Plan, the Belmar Council adopted a Pay-to-Play ordinance limiting the ability of our elected officials to vote on appointments or development matters involving professionals or developers who had made contributions to their election campaigns. However, we included a “cure” provision in Belmar’s Pay-to-Play Ordinance that applies in circumstances such as this project and the newly elected councilmembers. The ordinance includes a “cure” process that enables them to refund the contribution(s), which will restore their ability to vote on development matters involving the donor(s). Councilman-elect Michael DeBlasio wrote this week on the Belmar Locals group FaceBook page that he and his running mate, Councilman-elect Kevin Moroney, intend to refund the contribution(s).

  3. So Dolce Vita Nick wants to build a 5 story apartment complex on where his business is – and one block up from where he lives?

    What a ***.

  4. Funny … how the warm and fuzzy sounding “Seaport Village Redevelopment Area” evolved into a “Seaport Redevelopment Area” … just like Seaports Linden, Elizabeth and Newark.

  5. In national news, the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.6%. It’s a nice combo platter with the rising inflation, and record setting deficit spending. I think over at the Recession Diner it’s call a number 7.

Well at least we can all take comfort that we have a leader who is a grounded individual who understands what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. A man of principles who understands the sanctity of marriage, who is honest, humble, and possesses an intellectual curiosity. A man who would never associate with a known sex trafficker, or have lunch with a Holocaust denier, or get involved with petty arguments with pop stars on the internet. A man who shuns the spotlight and sees the good in all people. A man who welcomes dissent, encourages contrary opinions, and is genuinely self deprecating. A man whose personality doesn’t flagrantly display literally all seven deadly sins. Thank goodness.
Because if you are gonna be really bad at managing the economy, you should at least be a good person.
    Right?
    Hello?
    Anyone?!?

  6. Nick and his attorney(s) have now written a “heart felt” message on Dolce Vita Facebook and InstaGram – and coordinated a social media campaign of non-residents to sharing their support of Dolce Vita (again – follow the sleight of hand … and the money)

Its all one big “misunderstanding” … Nick loves Belmar – and his proposal will beautify Belmar.
