  1. This is an exceptional plan, Firehouse and First Aid under one roof on Main St. WOW!! It gives you that beautiful Main St. feel to have a beautiful building our emergency service people deserve on Main St that all residents can be proud of. Yes there will be costs but the value this will add to the entire town will be extraordinary. Let’s give the Mayor and Council a hand for a job well done on this. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to bring that small town feel to Belmar. Well done!!

  2. And it’s not only the cost to remediate something like that which I know is not cheap and is an issue, probably why no one has come through to buy the property because it’s been listed for sale for years and years now.

My issue with it on top of the cost for remediation is the length of time to remediate the site and get permits to build out on same. Does that mean during that whole process the first aid and emergency services are going to be in limbo operating out of make shift pop up type places to operate out of.

There has to be a better more cost efficient way to do this.

  3. 1. Get fixed costs on clean up.
    2. Purchase property at a value that incorporates the clean up of this property.
    3. Sell the two other firehouses(yes, 2) Now is the time to have a functioning firehouse that can house all of our equipment and have the 9th ave firehouse as back up and historical value.
4.Design a beautiful building that we can be proud of(Not the piece of sh*t, in these renderings)
    5. If we need more space (Buy out the neighbor) This is a once in a lifetime chance to beautify an entire town with this piece. Values will soar if this is carried out properly. Or we can have a band aid! The price tag should be in the range of what the yield is on the 2 other firehouses. Ball’s in your court Mayor and Council, make it happen for the people of Belmar.
