  1. Wow!! $66,000 to rent the concession that we gave away to Doherty for $1.00 last year. Amazing when you properly advertise something.
Why doesn’t he rent one of the vacant stores on Main St, year round? It would cost a lot less than $66k.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Circle of Friends is a great organization. It’s just a shame they let Doherty attach his name to it.

  2. Does that money go to maintaining the vinyl floors, the cheap drop ceiling, the design that literally prevents cross breezes, the boardwalk plank railings, or the glaring fluorescent lights?
That pavilion was the biggest waste of tax payer $ in the history of this town. A multi million dollar cheap plastic building that is never open to the public and run by a private company. Of all the horrible things that Doherty and his cohorts (Magovern, Brennan, Nikolay) did to this town, that pavilion boondoggle was thee worst. All for political expedience.
The fact that we squabble over who will occupy the concession is indicative of how helpless we all are. We’ve been robbed of millions and we argue over thousands. An investigation should be launched and people held to account. And those in this town that supported the pavilion (you know who you are) should make a public apology.

  3. Nice to see some income flowing. Remember when the mayor said there were no other offers last year?

What’s with Doherty using the circle of friends as intimidation. This isn’t some sporting event. Leave the banners and cheering at home. Your ***** **** ******* is over.

  4. What a shame that Doherty used the circle of friends as pawns and props during the bidding process. There was no need for them to be there during this business process. Was he trying to intimidate the other bidders.
And the fact that he’s wearing a “coach” shirt is even more of a charade. I wouldn’t let him coach an army of ants up a hill!

  5. The Circle of Friends Cafe is a great thing but I think how awesome it would be to be on Main Street somewhere in Belmar and opened all year round not just the crazy summer months. I would think that would be an even better opportunity for these individuals to have this all year and a constant in their lives. So I think we should all support turning lemon into lemonade and rally around and find them a great space on Main Street (there are a lot of empty store fronts).

      1. Perfect. McDirty decided to keep the tax rate lower in Lake Como by filling up one of their store fronts. Some things never change.
