As for everything else. The mayor announced his resignation and yet many of the people mentioned in the letter resigned AFTER that. If the mayors behavior is the problem, wouldn’t they all have stayed when he announced his departure? So it must be something, or someone, else.

It is not speculation that three people ran on “no big development” and once in power immediately went to the state and gave up entire home rule and they could “blame” the state. Not to mention untold cost to taxpayers for pricey attorneys that convinced the public that they had to submit to affordable housing.
It’s not speculation that our current mayor constantly nitpicked and harassed the former administration about “transparency” and once elected is the most non transparent mayor Belmar has ever seen.
It is not speculation that that we now have huge buildings going in with not enough parking and zero infrastructure improvements associated with those buildings.
It is not speculation that pilots were given.
It’s not speculation that the corner of 8th Ave was not approved under former administration because of density and parking but given cart-blanche under this administration.
It’s not speculation that the 12th Ave corner project was ignored totally as pollution is spreading.
It’s not speculation that the water tower needs to be painted.
It’s not speculation that taxes and water rates have zoomed upwards
It’s not speculation as the abandonment of Belmar comes at worst time of year.

Also, blaming this mayor for the projects happening now is like blaming the next mayor for them. They were set. And any legal ramifications of affordable housing were a direct result of Doherty and Walsifer kicking the can (fun fact: Mr DeBlasio voted to remove the hight restriction on 8th Ave). I agree that Mike DeBlasio voted to permit height in one central portion of the building between 8th and 10th. A smart move in my opinion. Negotiation is give and take. I also like that he is an engineer and builder himself. Experience in those areas are crucial as we navigate development going forward. Although the damage is already done.
Please remember that the next 4 buildings going up are not because of Ken Pringle, Matt Doherty or Mark Walsifer. They are the sole responsibility of Jerry and his team. They gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Handing over our home rule to the state was a terrible decision. That is what Jerry did. Under the guise of affordable housing which was another disingenuous act. We had an ordinance about affordable housing passed in August of 2019. # 2019-25. Watch the meetings of July 16, 23rd and August 6th of that year. Then ask why it’s not listed in Code 360. Since we never, but certainly could have, fulfilled our affordable housing requirements, the developers for 8th were about to get what they wanted by adding it. What you fail to accept is that now, our affordable housing requirements are met.
