Imagine if the rebuilding of Oyster Creek has started 8 years ago. It would have been almost complete by now. With the Salem County Nuclear complex, New Jersey would have had the power to run anything and everything all the time, including any AI data centers.
Oh, but then it would have gone against Murphy’s plan to install windmills up and down our beautiful coast.
Yes imagine that. Now let’s imagine the water used to cool the facility. Now let’s imagine an accident, or mistake, or any possible thing that would set off a chain reaction. Now let’s imagine Chernobyl, Kyshtym, Three Mile Island, Church Rock, Fukushima, and all the others catastrophes. Now imagine solar power panels on your roof. Crank the AC all you want.
As we should. Or get solar panels. They are much cheaper than building a nuclear reactor. And incalculably safer.
I remember during the oil embargo in the 70s, rather than bend to the Middle East thugs, Jimmy Carter went on TV and basically asked everyone to share the sacrifice and put on a sweater.
The right went bananas.
All during the “war”’with Iran, Trump and his acolytes have been asking America to drive less and share the sacrifice.
The right calls that patriotic.
The open hypocrisy and blatant dishonesty would actually be kind of impressive, if it wasn’t so disgusting.
