I absolutely love the ‘commentary on nature’ posts that accompany the regular Belmar Blog posts. Every one of them is filled with important information on protecting wildlife, changing habits, and experiencing the natural beauty that surrounds us.
However, there is one thing about them that I don’t quite understand. This blog definitely skews to the right. There are posts from right wing “media” that are always critical of democrat politicians but let republicans get away with murder. Even the responses show a preponderance of misguided right wing anger.
So it seems incongruous to have these pro natural world posts. Each and every one of them flies in the face of right wing indoctrination. Asking the world to use less lights, stop using pesticides, don’t use gas blowers on your lawns, let weeds grow, practice conservation, etc etc are ALL things that republicans freak out about. All statements of negative environmental impacts caused by man are considered a “myth” and met with skepticism and anger.
Just seems odd that these thoughtful (and accurate) environment posts are on a blog that’s typically filled with right wing vitriol.
Keep them coming.
It’s probably Gerry complaining because nobody hates Donovan. Everyone is supporting her and hoping Belmar can get back on track after the last few people really caused damage. Maybe everyone is just pissed off at the politicians that (Deleted by Editor).
I’m afraid it’s the right wing politicians painting themselves as wanting to harm the environment.
Drill baby drill!, gutting the EPA, allowing pesticide manufacturers to thwart local laws, gutting the clean air act, gutting the endangered species act, toxic coal ash deregulation, polluting chemical plant exemptions. The list goes on.
The media is simply reporting these atrocities.
It’s a little surprising you aren’t aware of what is happening at the national level in regards to environmental protections. All very easily researched, but be warned, you ain’t gonna like what you see.
Perhaps you should have a talk with your people because here is what some of us see conservatives doing to the environment:
Under DJT there has been an increased number of permits issued for fossil fuel and natural gas exploration and extraction on public parks, national lands and critical wildlife habitats. Just yesterday Trump moved to cut millions of acres of national monument in Utah and open them up to commercial endeavors. You think we’re gonna personally see the profits from those explorations?
Rescinded greenhouse gas emission regulations and delayed implementing pollution limits of new vehicles. Don’t need that clean air, do we? Who remembers the smog of the good old days?
Removed long-standing habitat protections under the Endangered Species Act. Say bye-bye to a lot of wildlife on this planet. Habitat destruction is the largest cause of species loss. Who needs birds and whales and frogs and butterflies anyway? Those fireflies you like so much but hardly see anymore? I bet it’s not just light pollution and pesticides.
Eliminated controls for coal plants, fattening the wallets of his cronies. Let’s bring back black lung while slashing everyone’s healthcare.
Narrowed definitions for water protection under the Clean Water Act and scaled back drinking water standards. Don’t want to drink clean water, do we? Or keep our coastal habitats clean and safe for fishing and recreation? How many times is it acceptable for L Street Beach to close because of fecal bacteria?
Removed climate science information from government websites, cut climate science research funding, and limited the number of weather balloons launched across the country that help collect data that predicts severe weather. Guess we’re all okay with being unprepared for some more frequent flash flooding, or being caught on the beach in a lightning storm.
The administration also attempted to dismantle a vast bi-coastal ocean monitoring system before public outcry caused them to backtrack. This system is used to monitor ocean currents, seismic activity, weather and commercial fisheries. Missing weather data can turn a basic predicted storm into an unexpected disaster real fast. Or how about our commercial fisheries and private boats who use that info to monitor fishing grounds and stocks? No fish means no fishing. No fishing means no money and no food. Then what?
In June 2026 the Trump EPA approved two new “forever chemicals” that farmers can use on crops, and the Supreme Court just limited our ability to sue the chemical companies for any potential damage their pesticides may cause to our health or environment.
Let’s not forget the wonderful job HHS is doing in finding out where our latest diarrhea parasite is coming from. Seems DOGE got rid of the people responsible for monitoring and responding to those sorts of things. Along with USDA cuts that monitor the screwworm that’s helping to drive up beef prices. Now it’s infecting people’s pets. Sorry, Fido!
Should I even go on about data centers and their constant noise, light and water pollution and associated energy costs, just so you can ask ChatGPT what you should have for dinner, as if you’ve forgotten how to think and create for yourselves? Look up what’s happening near the Nashville Zoo, or anywhere across Tennessee and Georgia and Virginia. Data centers are being fast tracked all over the country with zero regard for local residents, animals or the environment.
All with the permission and silence and complicity of Congress, which is led entirely by the GOP.
I can’t think of a single Republican I’d call a hippy, crunchy, tree hugger. Those labels are typically associated with “woke liberals”. Just because you wear the fancy outdoor brands or post a few memes doesn’t mean you care about the environment. It’s counterproductive when you support those who are actively bulldozing our current protections.

Congrats to Mayor Donovan.
Your statement is false. I’m not supporting Donovan.
The left wing, mainstream media has done an excellent job of painting Conservatives as wanting to do harm to the Environment.

Donald Trump should get an environmental award for reducing the world gas & oil air emissions by 20%
You deserve an award Mr Creamer for being one of the most brilliant men in Belmar… keep going
The town needs you
He was being facetious.

Omg LHD!
I hope they come out with a vaccine for TDS soon!
Let me know how it works out when you’re (Deleted by Editor.) thanks to the incompetence of those you voted for.
