I’ve in the council for 5 years. I’ve sat idly by while this last mayor did nothing and hid things from us. I also sat idly by while the previous mayor did the same thing. Mr DeBlasio has been on the council for seven months and he too sat idly by while the former mayor hid things from us (almost like a political Easter egg hunt). We promise that we will no longer sit idly by anymore, unless we have to for political purposes.
Is anyone buying this whole “we were powerless to do anything” shtick? I’m not. Now all the sudden things were bad? Five years on the council, she has more explaining to do than anyone.

One of the issues she often takes credit for the fight against Verizon’s proposed 5G towers, was a grassroots effort started by former Councilwoman and now Mayor Donovan, who organized residents. Katie organized residents, built the momentum, and forced the issue into the public spotlight. Jodi joined after the movement was already underway, then took credit for the work.
And let’s not forget the political reality: she survived her 2024 reelection thanks to Donald Trump for driving turnout and Katie for handing her the very issues she later claimed as her own. Sad that she would let politics get in the way of what’s best for Belmar.
While you argue about phone wires, what about the lake? I hear everyday they are working on the lake when it has only been a problem of the last 3.5 years and 15+ days.
The lake was maintained by DPW, you could fish, you could actually see the lake because it wasn’t overgrown, there was wildlife, swans, and the geese were controlled.
The wait, the zero progress, the zero maintenance is only because the Mayor didn’t do anything to help Belmar.

NJSA 39:4-138 states you must park 25 feet from a crosswalk. Understandable. I live on 19th Ave. I parked 2 feet over yellow line, I received a ticket, I was wrong, I’ll pay it.
I know the guys that sell hotdogs at 19th , 14th and 6th Ave are veterans and are afforded the privilege of selling hotdogs. But in the interest of “safety”. Why are they allowed to park their carts/trailers and pickup trucks in the yellow zone, one foot from the crosswalk? Why are they allowed to leave their carts/trailers parked in the street overnight and never move ?
Obviously the police see this every day. Does the fact that they are veterans excuse them from the law and the safety of all?

What if all the choices are bad. What if it costs more to remediate than the amount set aside to pay for it? What if the contaminated soil goes far beyond the property itself? Into neighboring properties? Or the school? Of course these are all questions that should’ve been discussed at the time of purchase, but hey, “let the tax payers deal with it” is the mantra of the modern Republican Party. Didn’t used to be that way.
