  1. All this is kind of comical. The former “leaders” of this town (and Middletown apparently) neglected to plan and negotiate affordable housing units among the dozens of condos built during those years. Now, we find ourselves painted into a corner.
    And now the funny part. People are quick to blame the working class people that would benefit from the affordable housing mandate. And, with a helping of irony that would make Oscar Wilde blush, they Do Not blame the former mayor OR the mostly right leaning developers who are more than happy to build “ugly, four story monstrosities” wherever they can cram them in.
    The situation we are in right now was easily avoidable. If Doherty (a self serving narcissist who only cares about his future political career) and Walsifer (who was more interested in pleasing his base and taking care of his friends) added the commensurate amount of affordable housing during their tenure, we’d be all set.
    The chickens have come home to roost.
